3.0 out of 5 starsConfused how this got so highly rated by others

I usually really enjoy the space pirate themes as one of my favorite alien romance genres. This one started promising and I was getting into the characters. But then it seemed like there wasn't a lot of history story line developing beyond the general by the way cliff notes of it. The present story line really just kept going in circles and the 'action' was not that exciting or unique. The 'special powers' the female character had were much weaker than she kept describing her brothers, and there wasn't anything that exciting about hers when she used them. There was also no clarification if it was truly the nano's or a human in generals brain waves that are compatible with that type of alien she mated with. * If you're looking for a steamy alien romance, this isn't it. The couple did not even have sex until 90% of the book was completed because of her nano issue. When it turns out he could have stopped her nano issue immediately. * I really wanted to like this series since I love space pirates usually. But it left a lot to be desired and I got bored / annoyed quickly. I would try the next in the series today just to compare and see if they got better after the first, but the 2nd involves a new character. And the third in the series is about the complete untrusting jerk character of this current crew instead of the adorable character like Tovak or the doctor Mek. The price is also high for a book under 200 pages. If these were on Kindle Unlimited I would go ahead and try the others to see if they're better. But unfortunately, I didn't think the initial book was strong enough to justify spending the 2.99 each on the additional books in this series. Perhaps they'll be offered on KU in the future.

This was an okay SciFy story filled with descriptive alien lingo. It would’ve been better if character description stayed on point. For example, Lisa’s eyes kept going from deep brown to slate gray, back to brown, which caused me to enter into the story with a negative mind. If an author can’t even remember their characters details, it discourages me from continuing. Anyway, this fantasy genre isn’t my favorite, (..that’s not the authors fault). But once I allowed it to grow, it became semi-interesting. The problem was, there’s a lot going on but nothing happening! Lisa is a convicted grifter, granted amnesty from prison if she agrees to be part of a test group of cyber enhancements. She consents to having tiny robotic nanites installed in her brain, designed to send and receive data. While being transported, her sleeping body is frozen cryogenically ...her ship is irrevocably damaged and she’s rescued by Qaiyaan and his crew. Qaiyaan is of the Denaidan race whose home planet was destroyed along with all the women. He and his crew are survivors turned pirate and now, it’s their mission to make their enemy pay for annihilating their home. Except for the character deets, this story was conveyed with an okay plot, interspersed with fresh Alien dialogue. It just didn’t get anywhere.
4.0 out of 5 stars"Stepping into that cryo-pod had been the largest act of faith in her twenty-six years of life."

Lisa knew she had made some desperate choices, that's what a person did in desperate times... but hedging her bets, and not being 100% honest with total strangers from the moment she first met them was just being smart where she came from.
Qaiyaan and his crew may not always be on the right side of the law, but that doesn't make them bad guys. He can't quite explain why he's inclined to help, and protect Lisa, but when he realizes she was dishonest from the start it doesn't exactly win over his crew.
This done in one quick read does a lot of world building, typical of a first in series, and sets up at least one, maybe two, overarching plots for the series. The book reaches a very satisfying conclusion, but it is clear there is more fun to be had in this Universe.

I was able to read this book one chapter at a time, as I'm a subscriber to Tamsin's newsletter. I enjoyed reading this book just as much this time around, if not more. At first, I thought Qaiyaan was an unscrupulous pirate, but once I learned about his planet and their heartbreaking event, called the Termination, I wanted to help him and his crew destroy Syndicorp. And then along comes Lisa traveling on Syndicorp ship, being used as an experiment for them. However, it's ironic because that experiment becomes Qaiyaan's saving grace. Did he really rescue her, or did she end up rescuing him? I enjoyed this book so much I bought a copy of it, and I can't wait until the next story comes out!!

This was an awesome start to a new series, the Galactic Pirate Brides. The book starts with Lisa, a high tech grifter. She & her brother have been testing new biotechnology for the company who runs everything. Lisa was supposed to be traveling to be with her brother but ends up with Captain Qaiyaan. He belongs to a race that had all of its women killed and most of its men. Because of their mating practices, they aren’t compatible with other species or so they thought. This story is the telling of how Lisa & Qaiyaan fall in love & change things for all of Qaiyaan’s race. I definitely recommend this book!

I ended up reading this book second in the series, and even knowing the basics of the story it was a ton of fun to read! The heroine is the one that really gets me in this book. I love the struggle to connect with her brother, and the difficulty she must overcome with the technology running around in her body. The pirate captain is charming and the background for his race and their unique abilities really make it possible for them to be pirates you want to see succeed. If you love space adventures, pirates, or romance in general, you’ve got to check out this series.
Lisa is found in a cryo pod on a ship that was disabled by pirates but another ship of pirates has come to take the cargo from the first ship. The captain Qiayaan of the second ship has just got most of the cargo back to his ship when another ship one from a large corporation show up and blast the first pirates ship to dust and then blasts the one Lisa was on to dust to so Qiayaan and his crew burn out of there. But now they have this human women on their ship and that may be the start of the real trouble. So enjoy the read and see if they can turn trouble into a win win situation ! !

The bad guys are messing with nanites and the h has been injected. She ends up on the pirate ship and both her nanites and her are drawn to the captain, a man who has had no real intimacy since his planet was 'sterilized' by the bad guys and all the females killed.
This is an interesting world and I like the twists on why there are no mates available for these pirates. But it looks like the bad guys just might have solved their little problem for them. Enjoyable read.
Have to make this short but zero reflection on the book or the author. Fast past, tons of adventure, solid characters & story line that I didn’t know where it was going, so rare but very happy about; good use of sci-fi info/science, good love scenes, all makes for my 4 star rating, at $3.99 can. makes for great value too so yes I really consider the series so far worth your time & money, only thing that would make this sweeter is if it were on kindle unlimited. So enjoy! Take Care & Be Safe TGS
I was lucky enough to get an ARC. I enjoyed it so much I also bought it. The world building is amazing and I love the characters. I’m looking forward to finding out more about everything. There is so much to explore in this world.
I’m looking forward to to many more books in this world. Hopefully Lisa will find her brother along the way. Waiting waiting waiting for the second book and will be following Tamsin Ley’s writing from now on.
