The premise was good but the writing wasn't what it could have been. The story moves soooo slowly. For some reason the author thinks we really need to know all about the china, the furnishings, etc to the point of exhaustion. I was actually starting to get interested in the story and the pace had picked up when all of a sudden it becomes so sentimental and cheesy that I nearly stopped reading. The whole 'Christmas with everyone' becomes a cotton candy wrap up with everyone suddenly finding happiness. It was just too, too much for me.

There is no sex in this book (and no sexual tension between the H/h).

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful!

This Christmas season, I was only able to read three Christmas books. The first two were great, and the last one, "All I Want For Christmas" by Jenny Hale started out a little slow and then picked up beautifully and in the end was just as wonderful and great as the two other books. The characters are endearing, but they are also very believable with everyday problems and as they develop throughout the book we find out more and more interesting things about them, allowing the author to give us a full picture of all her characters which is not an easy thing to achieve.

Christmas is a time where many of us replay old memories, some good and some sad and some intertwined, but it is also a time that we create future memories. In the end, like Hemingway said, "The only thing you take with you when you die, is what you left behind," and hopefully what we leave behind are memories of love and caring. That is a major theme throughout the novel and a perfect example of one of the true meanings of the Christmas season... A time of the year filled with good cheer and a magic, blatantly obvious, for all of us to see and emulate throughout the year.

Happy Holidays!

I didn’t always read this book in front of my cozy fire with a cup of hot chocolate but Jenny Hale's writing put me there in that mood. Her writing is so real that you are immediately drawn into the story. I have now read every Christmas book she has written so hopefully she is busy working on next year.
For those who didn’t recognize the romance in this book, it was in every considerate and loving thing David does for Leah and Sadie. I felt it from the beginning to the end. Also the spirit of Christmas was in every special character therein. The opening of each person's hearts to the needs and desires of others carried the Christmas spirit.
I like her style of writing that isn’t full of flowery descriptions. You knew Sadie was a little girl by the description of her toothless smile while eating her Christmas cookie. The way David used his thumb to rub Leah's hand while holding it...just countless ways Ms. Hale let you know what was going on.
This story does warm your heart just as it says.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reading this novel was like an early Christmas present!

All I Want For Christmas--A Feel-Good Christmas Romance to Warm Your Heart, by Jenny Hale, is exactly as advertised! This is a story about abiding love and living without regrets, and just happens to be set at Christmas.

Leah Evans' grandmother Nina Evans unexpectedly passed away. She had always told Leah that she would be the sole heir to Evergreen Hill, Nan's Virginia plantation. Over the years Nan had developed quite an event business at the plantation and Leah had planned to complete her degree in business management and corporate event planning, then join Nan to revamp the business. To spend that time with Nan while bringing her young daughter to live in the country would be a dream come true. Now, without Nan, it would be a challenge.

When the letter came from Nan's attorneys saying that the plantation had been left jointly to Leah and David Forester, Leah was devastated. She had known David, who was a few years older, as a child but hadn't seen him in decades. What was Nan thinking and what did she mean in her letter about not having regrets?

In a lovely story that brings the folks Nina loved together for a beautiful white Christmas new dreams are made and those she loved make choices to assure they will not have the regrets that she did.

I really enjoyed this well developed story filled with rich and likable characters. Reading this novel was like an early Christmas present!

All I Want for Christmas is another festive, charming, heartwarming book by Jenny Hale. The characters are lovable, the wintry atmosphere adding to this cozy story. This is a book that leaves you believing in the magic of Christmas! At Evergreen Hill, a historic Inn and events venue, the trees are frocked with snow and twinkling lights all around. Single Mom, Leah, wants nothing more than to move into the house her Nan willed her with her daughter Sadie and start a new life as they had always planned. But Nan has other ideas and includes David, a boy from Leah’s childhood, into the will and now the question of who gets the house has created a dilemma. As Leah and David spend time together at the house, as Christmas draws near, and as new friends and family come together, hope and love at Christmas may just decide for them. Loved it!

1.0 out of 5 stars Terribly written

I wanted a light, fluffy, predictable, no-stress book to read before Christmas. I was not expecting great literature, but I was expecting the writing and story-telling to show some basic level of competence. This book is terribly written, really terribly written. There is a lot of description, i.e. lots of adjectives are used used, but the description mostly gets in the way and doesn't really contribute to developing the characters, the setting or the plot. (What exactly is a "cutesy" bottle of wine?) I struggled through about 20 pages and then couldn't take it any more. I found myself editing the writing in my mind instead of being engaged by the story. A waste of time and money.

Thank you to Netgalley, Bookoutre and Jenny Hale for the opportunity to read this book for an honest review.

This is like a big hug from Santa wrapped up in one little book. It is simply wonderful and is a fabulous feel good Christmas read. That will be guaranteed to have you in the Christmas spirit and excited for the festive season. This book is about love, friendship, belief in yourself and Christmas. I simply adored this book.

I want to set the scene of this book. Imagine snowflakes, Christmas carols, excitement, and a beautiful plantation house in the heart of Virginia. Sounds good right?

Leah's (our main character and leading lady) grandmother has just passed away and has left Leah and her daughter Sadie her majestic house.

Leah is super excited and she knows that she can now give Sadie the childhood she has dreamed her to have. The only slight catch is that lovely manna has stipulated in her will that Leah has to split the house with a man called David Forester.

Leah and David were once childhood sweethearts. They were inseparable and David was always there to pick Leah up when she fell from grace. But that was all such a long time ago. Since then they haven't spoken at all.

Davids description is of someone gorgeous and you can easily tell where this book is going to go. However I really didn't mind as I took the characters to my heart and wanted to see what happened to them. David has his own business, he is rich and successful and is certain that Leah must sell her part of the house to him. Ok I will admit I'm the beginning he was a bit of an arse but isn't that how all romances in books start out?

Nana isn't daft and she knew exactly what she wanted to happen when she made her will. Crafty old lady.

Jenny is always great at taking the reader on a journey with her characters. You always end up loving them all and wanting to give them all big hugs. You will laugh, you might even cry if your like me and most of all you will be left with a happy feeling in your heart. It will leave you smiling, happy and festive. What more could you possibly want.

Merry Christmas and happy reading everyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Timeless Story

I’m a little late in posting this however, other than being set at Christmas the story itself is timeless and can be read all year round! I am a massive fan of Jenny’s so of course I was excited to read her latest Christmas offering. This story is all about Leah and her daughter Sadie.

Leah is a single mother and is working hard to make sure her daughter Sadie doesn't go without anything. Their relationship is very special and the have a really close bond with one another. Leah has the support of her two best friends throughout the novel and this theme of friendship is one of the most noted throughout the book.

David and Leah have known each other since children and although the book is set over a short period of time this history serves as a strong foundation for the new direction their relationship is going in. Leah has a kindness that shone throughout and it's not hard to see how carefully she nurtures her friendships.

The story follows Leah and David as they try to sort out their differing opinions over what should happen with the estate and at times I really could have reached into the book and given David a good shake! Leah had a very close connection with her Nan and this can be felt throughout with all of the ties to family Christmas and the plantation.

One thing I love about Jenny's books is the setting. I can always imagine them so clearly thanks to her vivid and detailed description of the surroundings. I would love to visit Virginia one day to experience it for myself! If you've never read any of Jenny's books, or if you're already a fan you are sure to enjoy this book!

Firstly another christmassy Jenny Hale book...PERFECT! I did not just read this book, I experienced it! Beautifully written, this book grabbed me from the first page. A lovely story of love, loss and friendship that suited my mood perfectly with the christmas period fast approaching. The descriptions of the magestic plantation house in Virginia were brilliant and the relationships between all the characters were very real. The story is beautiful, magical and every other exclamation of joy!
The only disappointment was when I finished this book. I Cannot recommend Jenny Hale enough either. I say that anyone looking for a feel good, festively romantic novel BUY AND READ THIS BOOK! I simply did not want to put it down!
