I couldn’t stop reading A Desolate Christmas once I started. And when I finished it, I immediately backed up and read the last quarter of it all over again. What a sweet book.
This is a heartwrenching story about a little girl kidnapped from her home of privilege, to the poor slums of London. There, Lena is forced to steal and beg for her captures. Farley was a young boy in the same circumstance as Lena, always looked after her. It wasn't until 11 years later, by chance, her life changed for the better. This is a story of love, lost, sadness and a joyous ending. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this beautiful story narrated by Cecily White 🎧audiobookobsessionreviewer🎧

Poor little girl gets kidnapped and dropped off with the worse people ever. What a horrible maid to kidnap a 5 year old. She is gone for 11 years. Why she never went to cops is what I never understand.

I adored this book in its entirety. This is a real un-put-down-able tale of a young respectable girl who falls victim of the rogues that trolled the streets of its time. Many a sad Christmas passes before she can dare to dream of ever meeting up with the loved ones of her childhood and the intervening years. Loved it.

Could not put this book down. It was so heartfelt and the author wants a clap on the back for portraying Victorian life and what it entailed in those dreadful times. I know it is only fiction ,but I was so hooked up in the book that I was there in the book with the charactors. Lovely story well done Faye
