5.0 out of 5 stars Really fascinating read

I loved it. The story is fast paced with great characters running at light speed all over the world. Of course it’s unlikely they could travel with nothing including phones stretches reality but it’s still a good story well told. Hope there is another coming

VanOps is a deep undercover organization that searches for misuse of power in any form. This story is about a set of twins who are part of the family descending from Ramirez I, the first king of Spain. The male twin, Will, has been living in Brazil, while the sister Maddy is close to the family estate. They had been called home along with their younger sibling, Marie, for an announcement by their father. But their father and Will's wife were killed by a sniper rifle. They are contacted by the family lawyer to come to hear what their father had left them, which turns out to be a quest for which they had to go first to Spain and see the head of the extended family. There they learn of a hidden energy treasure, which connects them to Alexander the Great. To start the quest they have to go to Jerusalem and find the Mark of Ramirez.
This story takes the reader to many ancient parts of the Middle East and parts of India, before they find themselves on top of the Great Pyramid at Via a in the middle of a lightening storm, where Maddy is forced to use special stones to save herself, Will, Bear, and AJ from their thoughts dead grandfather, who was making a power play move in coordinated with Russian mobsters. This story reminds me of a James Rollins novel, which means if you like suspense and world traveling with adventure, you will like this book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Writing style at its worst.

How this book won an award or five stars from other readers is a mystery to me. I have read the first nineteen chapters and cannot read anymore. The writing style is clumsy at best. The dialogue is juvenile and in most cases unlikely. The musings of the characters are disconnected from the events depicted or the plot line. This is just terrible writing. I would expect more from a freshman in a creative writing class.

Saw all the hype for this book, so I took the shot. The book was okay, but not great. Anything by Dempsey, Berry, Tumlinson, Rollins blows this away.

4.0 out of 5 stars Exceptional Mix of History, Technology and Cultivated Abilities in this Modern Action Thriller

Avanti does a masterful job in this tome of bringing personality to her characters and their mission. Perhaps a more fitting term would be their quest for a family artifact that spans generations as well as throughout history itself. Fans of James Rollins and his Sigma Force series will also find this tome enjoyable, exciting, educational, and entertaining. It causes one to ponder their own talents, skills, and abilities. It demonstrates the value of diverse skill sets mastered and cooperation amongst individuals in overcoming insurmountable odds. It causes us to ponder the question “what technologies are being pursued today to maintain our position as a world power, and what technologies are being developed by those who would love to see our demise?” Prepare yourself for an adventure that is sure to please!

when the write-up of the book is more interesting than the actual book, you know you're in trouble What VanOps? There was no ops. There was talk about it, referenced it, but who actually was in the Ops? really disappointed. Was this book actually aimed at adults, or high school aged young adults? Will definitely not read the next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb Storyline a Fabulous Read

This is such a great book to read, it's a fast paced Adventure/Mystery from start to finish. I love the main character Maddy who I can only describe as being similar to the character of Laura Croft - Tomb raider.

The three wonderful characters of Maddy, Will and Bear set out in a dangerous quest of discovery, travel across many continents , while being pursued in their search for 'The Lost Power'. It's a wonderful combination of intrigue and history that keeps you turning the pages of this superb storyline.

It's a fabulous book to read by Avanti Centrae. It's the first book I have read by this author, and I'm looking to buy more, as it was such an excellent book to read. Highly recommended it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Never trust gushy reviews
Reviewed in Australia on December 27, 2019

This book came nowhere near the positive reviews it was given. It was childish, no research was evident, and the characters were sooo boring. Note to self - the more gushy, hyper positive reviews given to a book the more likely it is a dud. The book might suit children better, though I think any smart child would throw it out the window. To be avoided by anyone old enough to read. I have been mislead too many times by reviews published on Kindle / Amazon. Never again!

This book has a little of everything to keep you reading. Just when you think you can stop, an unexpected twist pulls you back and you just keep going. Love the history, the science, the mysticism, the human-ness of the characters - can't wait for book 2!

Momentum good, intriguing plot, good narrative. The end was a bit far fetched, even for science fiction novels. Still very good
