The introduction to the book begins with the Serenity Pray, "Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference." and it really sets the tone for the rest of the book. Everything in life is a trade off and it's up to you to make the best of it and that means strengthening your mental fortitude. Learning to cope with your stress is another big topic in the book and a much needed lesson to learn, overall this book is amazing and has a lot of hidden gems so I'd definitely recommend picking it up.
5.0 out of 5 starsNot your typical self-help book. Good advice, great coaching, getting my mind right.

Straight-forward book. I like the style of writing. It is more of a coaching style that is direct and to-the-point about changing certain behaviors and outlooks that are counter-productive. I've read only 25% of the book so far and have been able to put things into practice (ie. focusing on things I can control/change in my immediate environment vs. trying to control other people's opinions/actions/ and things beyond my scope of influence). I am wasting a lot less time with trivial outside things and I find myself getting things done, immediately, for a change.
This is just scratching the surface of the many nuggets of wisdom in this book. I read a few pages in the morning to start the day with my mind right. There is definitely something for everyone in this book. You'll find something you can relate to/improve upon.
In this book I have discovered a down to earth, easy to follow guide to improve my attitude and discipline in life. The author lists a plethora of ways to bolster self-esteem and willpower, something that I believe many people strive for. I feel more confident and motivated to press forward towards my goals by establishing basic daily habits that build self discipline.
2.0 out of 5 starsGeneric ideas & small book (took approx 4hrs to read which really isn't a lot).

The book felt pretty cheap and the author doesn't have the results to talk about the lifestyle of successful people. I got the indication that the author is a spectator rather than being someone that commits to what the book itself says.
The book was well written hence the rating not being 1-star - however there were no fundamental ideas that made this book unique - therefore I urge others not to purchase this book. I'd love to have my money back!

Practice, practice, practice... you won’t be perfect on the first go around. You will have failures. But, you can learn from your failures. I enjoyed how the author combined person anecdotal experience with the lessons of others who also failed but were not defeated by failure and grew as a result of it. A recommended read.
5.0 out of 5 starsdifferent perspective on self-discipline and controlling the mind

Lots of good information and had me think about a lot of things I was doing and wasn't doing in relation to being stronger on the inside.
I really like how she distilled a lot of complex ideas into more simple language. Her use of examples is key because some of these topics are quite elusive to describe. You can tell that she lives what she preaches by the fact that her descriptions and definitions come from personal experiences.
Definitely recommended for a different perspective on self-discipline and controlling the mind.
A great book for self aware people in need of confirmation. A good book to offer to someone who lacks observation skills. I would reread again and again.
