I love Mel, however as an already accomplished business owner, the first minutes into the book I thought “this book probably isn’t for me.” Then, I got to chapter 2 and holy crap- Mel spoke to me yet again. I knew I loved her for a reason. This author is highly intelligent and in touch with the universe in ways that will change the world ...for the better ...one small action at a time through all of her good work. She’s in touch with and understands something universal that we all need in this day and age. This book is not only timely, but it’s necessary for so many of us who are trapped in the never ending cycle of feeling numb and detached from our emotions just so we can get through our “busy” days and check off another item from our never ending to do lists. Mel zeros in on the problem and offers solutions to get back to what life is really about. Someone told me recently that as we get older it’s important to “enjoy every day” and I think so many of us have lost touch with this as well as ourselves. Do you feel stuck, numb, lost in the daily cycle, have anxiety and question low grade depression? You gotta listen to this one! I’m not quite done with this book yet, but i know already it’s going to be a life-changer for me. My perspective on so much has already changed in just the first several chapters of Work It Out. Love you, Mel.
I occasionally stumble across a book explicitly written for and about women, but highly relevant to men. The was the case with Dr. Harriet Lerner's "The Dance of Anger," and is also true for Mel Robbins' "Work It Out." Mel repeatedly makes it clear that this book is for women, but I found it highly relevant to my experience. I appreciated the format, using five actual coaching sessions as a vehicle to present hundreds of valuable insights and options for growth and change. I was surprised at Mel's masterful coaching style and ability to ferret out deep undercurrents influencing feelings and behaviors in her clients. Men, not only does this book offer insight into female perspectives, it also offers a practical look at our commonality.

Thank you for such an awesome audio. I had my quarterly "Speed Check" a ( progress review) at work. It was a big shock.I have always had above and beyond amazing reviews, This time they said that I was not on track. They took one of the accounts I managed and gave it to another person at a different office, and was told they would do a follow in a month, to see if I did better,
I was extremely upset.I had been working a lot of hours, making sure that I got everything done that they had put on my plate and had kept up a positive attitude in a negative environment.
A couple of months prior, my manager and supervisor, where both fired, and there was a revolving door of supervisors, who didn't even know what everyone's jobs entailed. This fueled my anger and frustration.
The "Universe" came to my rescue, I had started listening to "The 5 Second Rule" for the second time, and was looking for another audible to download, when I came across "Work it Out". I listened to it going to and coming from work. First takeaway, I had to admit to myself, that the reason I was so angry, was because I put my all into this job, and it not appreciated. I came to terms with the fact that I was there to make money, and did not need appreciation.
The second takeaway, which was the big WOW for me, is that I had made myself invisible. Upper management had no idea of my work.
I found my voice and I started to speak up at meetings and take charge of my surroundings. I even made a group email including all 6 of the managers and supervisors that wander in and out, to keep everyone in the loop. This also gives them an idea of what I was doing. I started to act like an Executive.
I have also worked on boundaries, by keeping my hours close to 90 every 2 weeks, instead of over 100. I since received a work cell phone, when I informed them that I will no longer use my personal cell for work.
Next week will be my follow up "Speed Check". I plan on walking in like an Executive, because I am now an "Executive of my desk".
Thank you, Mel for taking the time to record this book. #WorkItOut
