When I'm on the mood for a cozy visit to a small town with characters I like and a mystery that's full of clues, the Spicetown series is the perfect fit!
I love reading about adventures of the crime solving duo of Mayor Cora Mae Bingham and Chief Conrad Harris. The supporting characters - Amanda, Brian, Saucy, Wink, Rodney and the others are lovable and just a little quirky. If you've lived in a small town, you'll recognize them all.
When a notorious "louse" of a man is murdered, the Mayor and Chief set out to find the killer. I liked the addition of the characters of Nellie and Tommy. Their part in the book was very creative. I hope to see more of them. The hubbub surrounding the statue of the town's founder, John Spicer, was wonderful...small town politics at their worst and best!
The mystery is welll written and entertaining. With Cora Mae and Conrad having different investigative styles, the book keeps you on you reading "toes"!
Waiting impatiently for another visit to Spicetown!
