The writing was tight, the story solid, the characters intriguing. The woman obviously did a boatload of research into the topic, and her descriptions are amazing. But this isn't a book. It's a partial book- she obviously plans on serializing this story. Which ticks me off because there was no mention of this in the description. I hate getting part of a story. I'll wait until the whole series is complete, and maybe pick it up again after that. But the writing and story are a solid 5 stars. I knocked off two for the cliffhanger.
Straight out of the blocks author Kyla Stone jabs at the readers heart fast and furiously like an underdog hell bent on taking out the champ. Major characters and minor character's battered lives twist your gut as you realise that amid unbelievable (yet all the realistically possible) devastation, no better tomorrow would exist. Shattered lives come together seeking redemption but the clock is ticking as inescapable dangers from every direction bear down on the main characters. Just when you think they might be catching just one break - you'll have to read to find out just how devastating the PostApocalyptic world might be. Grab your copy now! This amazing author is here to stay!
I absolutely loved this book! In so many of these post-apocalyptic novels, you get plastic characters that are hard to love and root for, underdone action, and a lack of believably in the presented scenario. This is NOT the case with Kyla Stone's Point of Impact! She has created multidimensional characters with real world problems that become harder to solve due to the nuclear event that propels this story forward. The description of the nuclear event itself is startling and literally comes off the page as a result of this author's great writing! Even better, Kyla handles not only a clear knowledge of what might happen in a nuclear event masterfully, she finds that perfect balance between plot and character, a balance you find only in writers who really understand their craft. I would definitely recommend this first book in what looks to be a promising new PA series! Can't wait to read the next book!
A scarey post apo story line set in the here and now. What makes it so much more frightening is the science the author has laid out. I liked the way the back story is drip fed throughout this novel, keeping you guessing - I still haven't got the full plot. As a reader, you are buying into a series - and one that's very well written. Looking forward to part 2. I received an ARC of this novel without obligation.
Wild ride through apocalyptic Miami. As Dakota tries to get to her sister, she deals with a man who has his own secrets but can help her find her sister. But there is more than just radiation to worry about. Something darker is chasing her. Couldn't put this one down!
A great start to a new series with realistic information on nuclear bombs and radiation/fallout dangers. I personally would not have ventured out after only 48 hours especially without improvised masks to avoid inhaling the fallout, but Dakota's desire to reach her sister is understandable. I can't wait to read the next book.
