To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.

You would think a book about writing and publishing would have been edited, but this one wasn't proofed very thoroughly. Somewhat disappointing. The important parts of the book about the writing process were a wealth of great information, but the authors missed when it came to featuring representative young adult literature.
I really wanted to like this book, but came away disappointed.

I took Steve's class on fiction writing through the Writing Academy and learned SO much. I highly recommend it for anyone interested in learning the essential components of a novel. However, this book is much more specific than the online course, examining the 9 checkpoints of a novel in greater detail; the examples from YA novels also allows the content to really "click" in the learner's mind. If you are looking for one resource to devour before you start writing, this should be it. I'm very grateful that Steve put the time into writing this for us! Thank you!
