5.0 out of 5 stars You'll fall in love with Alexa if you haven't already!

Fair warning, this series does contain violence (Alexa is an assassin for hire, and a werewolf) and some sexual scenes. Content is for mature readers only.

This series has quickly become one of my favorites. As the series progresses, we see Alexa growing up very quickly as she struggles to come to terms with making the hard decisions and dealing with the consequences. The decisions she makes defines her and her relationships, which she at times struggles to accept. As I read the book, I found I couldn't put it down - my heart broke for her, I held my breath in anticipation, I smiled and laughed with her. Trina M. Lee does a fantastic job of really bringing Alexa to life. We can all relate to that period in life where we started making the hard decisions and yearned for the more simple life we had before. We understand how Alexa feels when she realizes the person she is now because of the decisions she's made is no longer satisfied with the life she leads, and tries to change it. We've all thrown caution into the wind at some point and just let what might happen, happen without thought. We've all struggled to learn who we are, to accept it and our place in life. Alexa is no different, and Lee's masterful storytelling pulls you deep into the story to experience the roller coaster of emotions with Alexa.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best storyline so far in the series!

While I enjoyed this novel of Trina M. Lee's Alexa O'Brien series than the last 2 novels, I still get annoyed with all the sex as I find it distracting from the storyline, skim through it which I hate missing any conversation that might be pertinent to the storyline, but now we are throwing a 3rd guy/vamp lover into the mix (yeah I know it was a mistake). Really? does this added special power make her slut of the year too? Can't just say no I already have 2 lovers and that is more than enough!?!
Now she finds her job which she has enjoyed but she never really knew how vamps or werewolves got on their hit list only to now find that Demons are running the show and she has "so much power" they want to promote her to an assassin..... wait you took a job and didn't know who ran the show or who decided whom was killed and why? You just went and killed them, but drew the line at killing humans or "innocents". What makes you think someone is innocent when you don't know why you are killing someone else? OK I found this one hard to believe our gal Alexa was that naive.
And add to the action as her and her wolves killed Arys's sire Harley in the previous book now Las Vegas vamps are coming after her for that deed, and she finds out the kind of sick games they play with their lunches..... she needs to control her powers and kill them before they torture and slowly kill her and her lover or anyone else they deem is more than tasty.
So the full storyline is great, why does the author keep throwing in all these sex scenes especially the threesomes with her wolf and vamp lovers, neither of which would normally share, let alone start getting off on each other..... kind of weird.
I did love the storyline and found this novel the best one in the series so far.
Now if I just had a delete button for the gratuitous sex scenes, it would be perfect!

3.0 out of 5 stars I'd read the rest if they were free...

I've purchased a few of the Alexa series, each time thinking there were going to be more character developments or more to the plot line, and I keep getting disappointed. At this point the characters shouldn't come across as flat, and frankly I'm really beginning to dislike the main character. For an 'Alpha wolf' neither Alexa nor Shaz seem to have much backbone. Alexa is so wishy-washy about everything, just when you think she's going to stand up for herself, and make slightly better choices, she has sex with whomever she's mad at. The books aren't developing, and the plot line is so convoluted I can't remember what drew me to the series in the first place. Unless the remainder of the books are free, I won't find out what happens to these characters.

4.0 out of 5 stars Blonde and Blue

This is book four in the series. Again, the summary above is a pretty good summary of the story. Same characters as before only adding another lover. Kale has been featured before just never as a lover. I'm going to say this again. I'm guessing people don't understand that Arys is her twin flame which means that yes they are meant to be together but should not have met in any life time but did simply because Arys is a vampire. Shaz is Alexa mate and they were meant to be together in this life time. Most of the time Alexa is drawn to the men that she would have been meant to have been with if she was in another life time however she meets them because they are vampires. I'm guessing people can't get past this but can accept this in other stories such as Anita Blake Series. (Good series but she has a lot of lovers too. I think if it's okay for men to do this why can't women. Get over it people!) The inconsistencies that were there in the previous book are cleaned up. The plot is solid and so is the story line. Again, I think Alexa just needs to take time to herself and evaluate what she wants and needs. Characters are strong and pretty well developed. Good read even if it is quick.

I downloaded the first book in this series after receiving it as a recommendation from BookBub. I have been hooked since and continue to make my way through the entire series. Each story has something new, whether it be a new character, new challenge or new twist. I can't say that I find the books 'predictable' and that I enjoy. When you have the story figured out after the first chapter or two, it sometimes ruins the fun of getting there.

Blonde & Blue delivers an exciting twist and you continue to be there with Alexa as she grows into her powers, faces new enemies, and has her heart and loyalties tested.

Blonde and Blue is the fourth book in the Alexa O'Brien series, and opens with a night at the revamped vampire blood-and-sex and booze bar, The Wicked Kiss, which Alexa owns, and friend (and vampire), Kale manage. Alexa is due to spend a large portion of her time here, as she channels the vampiric powers through her blood bond to the devilishly sexy, Arys. She is still werewolf at heart though, to the pleasure of her Alpha, Shaz.

Alexa is falling all the more while deeper into trouble. Not just the bloodlust that she shares with Arys, and her desires for love and sex. She is propositioned to become an assassin for Shya, a demon, although his lackeys are just downright rude. As if this job offer isn't enough, Alexa has to face up to the events of the previous book when a pair of Vegas vampires arrive in town, baying for blood from the two wolves who had slaughtered their friend and colleague.

There is heartache in store in this book, but there is also delicious love making that makes you need to fan yourself down. I love the writing style, and this series so much. My only downside was that I read it too fast, in eagerness to read the next book in the series, which is already on my Kindle.

Whilst I have enjoyed all the books so far, I can't help but admit that I dont actually like Alexa. She likes to believe that she's this badass vamp/wolf but she constantly gets said ass, handed back to her. I find myself gritting my teeth and wanting to skip her inner dialogue and woe is me routine. I mean if I saw her on a night out, I just couldnt help myself, I'd have to slap her! She's got no substance as the main character and everyone around her ends up as collateral damage.
Shaz is said to be the Alpha male wolf and yet he blends into the background rather like a lap dog. There are many referances to his "Alpha dominant side" being shown in the bedroom scenes (sorry but my bathroom gets steamier!) but then the scene ends and its the next day! You never really get to explore this dominant side to him or are given an idea of how it changes the dynamics of his and Alexa's relationship.
As for Arys, I desperately want him to have a much bigger part in this journey as it goes along but sadly I feel that after 4 books we are never really going to be able to believe that he comes out on top and that as part of a trio there is some semblance of normality for him and that he has an equal part to play in their relationship.
As for the story line, it always feels like its just actually a sideline to Alexa's tantrums as "the life and death crisis" is over in the space of a chapter. Both Maxwell and Claire are made out to be all powerful and yet the big bad goes poof so easily.
Fingers crossed that Book 5: Death Wish gives me what I want, I am after all a glutton for punishment.

This is such an amazing series, I only got the first one because it was free, but since then I've been hooked! Wouldn't recommend to under 18's due to content, but as an avid reader, I genuinely haven't been able to put them down. I read the first 3 books over 2 days, becuase I just couldnt put it down!

The story line could be comparted to other books of the 'Twilight' era, and whilst this has some similarities (Girl + Vamp + Wolf) it is so different I wouldn't even put it in that supernatural grouping! It is dark and has all sorts of twists & turns. Especially the twists with the makers of them! Absolutely Brilliant!

I have nothing but praise for the author, and would & have recommended to anyone to read!
