I wasn't expecting a bully romance. I generally don't like them. This book reaffirmed that for me. There,s definitely not a Hero in this book. The story was good I hated all the guys in this, but I loved the I loved Rory. She was strong and dedicated.
The heroine is a total slag. Her parents just died and all she can think of is how handsome the men around her are. Stopped reading because I can't spend time in the head of someone so shallow and enjoy myself.
So this is a ok book to me only because Rory was kind of boring she never really fights back she all easy crying and I really wished she was more of a bad ass kind of she lets the princes do what ever and just walks away this is a good read if u like a semi adult version of Harry potter to me but that's just my opinion I won't be buying the next book because this one really didn't keep me intrigued or interested it kind of lagged.
This author has become one of my favorites in the reverse harem fantasy genre. I am an avid reader of this type of book and have found good and bad. One thing that Eva Chase does phenomenally well is character development. I hate when reading reverse harems and I hardly get a sense of the different male characters. Not the case here. Over the course of her series I fell in love with every one of the guys big time. Which at the start is shocking because they are such bullies. But trust me, it’s slow burn but the payoff is soooo good, sooo worth it, and sooooo hot. Many a late or sleepless night devouring this series. Highly recommend her other series too. A+++ stuff!!!
This book was hot! The story makes you feel bad for Rory and hopeshe can still hang on to everything her parents taught her. It brings to mind the old question of nature versus nurture. Which is stronger? SO far..... Anything goes!
I was sucked in from the first page and couldn't stop reading until I finished the series. The characters were well fleshed out, the plot was fantastic and the writing itself was beautiful. I can't wait to read everything this author puts out. I was so invested in this story and the characters. I adored Rory so much. She was strong even when she was vulnerable, moral, snarky but still kind. There was so much character growth, which is something I find is almost always lacking in these types of books. There's just so many good things I can say about this series. But it, read it, you won't be disappointed!
This review is written after reading and listening to this book.
This is the first book in a new series, I liked Rory she's such a strong character and the author took the time to develop her and give her depth. At the start of the story is seems to be somewhat meek but almost immediately she starts to build up her self confidence which continues throughout this book and by the end she has earned the respect of many. She has a purpose and knows what she must do if she is to survive and refuses to stray from her mission.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything to like about the other Scions and didn't think they were worthy partners for her. They were as far as I was concerned bullies without any redeeming qualities but hopefully, this will change.
This is a series which builds slowly but the story does have lots of drama and potential and I look forward to reading/listening to more of it.
The narration by Meg Sylvan and Stephen Dexter is well done and it made listening to this story an enjoyable experience.

Rory had her life planned out then it all changed and she doesn't know anything. All Rory wanted was to have freedom and attend college her parents are dead and she saw everything they say that they rescued her but she hates them. She's been told she is there heir to a powerful bloodline of Mages. The bullies of the Academy want to break her. She makes the mistake of trusting one only to be betrayed she cant wait till she finds away to get even and make them all pay. And there is and even more sinister plot blooming within the Barons cicle something is up and it leads to Rory will she master her magic to defeat them.
its okay... could of had more story development.... felt too short incomplete.. pages were actually 298 not 300 something.. i liked how it was written and the story line just would of hoped for more everything really.. might buy the next one.. edit: did not end up buying the next one
This was my first bully romance so wasn't sure what to expect, but it gave me more enemies to lovers kind of vibes. One of my favourite aspects was the magic system, and how the students would score points for their persuasion's team by getting one up on each other. Rory was a great main character, she was strong willed and held her own in the strange new world she's thrust into. Already on to Vile Sorcery!

I really like Rory, what a situation she has ended up in! I'm enjoying learning about the world she has been thrust into at the same pace that she is. I'm not sure that the guys are redeemable ... Only time will tell!!!

This was a decent start to the series and I’m hoping for the scoins to achieve redemption in the next books. Particularly Connar. I’m also excited for Rory getting her own back eventually.
