For me, I appreciate reading a novel that has some familiar locations and memories of the past. In this novel, I was thrilled to see Cape Canaveral (lived there in my early years as Dad worked at the Cape); Apalachicola, FL...My Mom and I had some of the best seafood in my life there. And, being a retired USN Chief from the aviation community, all of the data on the aircraft mentioned was like a trip down memory lane.

The reader will become familiar with three members of a special unit...Gunner, Cam and Bear. One is fearless, one is stealthy and one has combat skills. They come as a package and their motto is 'ride or die'. And, yes, they do get a special mission in this novel...The 'Jackal' makes an appearance and hope it is not her last!

The novel centers around an asteroid...2029 IM 86 that is inbound...Questions include how long until it hits Earth, what can be done, if anything, to prevent it and the ramifications of this asteroid colliding with Earth... Heart pounding, BP rising, and action in many different locations...Stand by to stand by...

This is an extremely well-written novel (including the research) , contains a multi-layered plot with well developed characters. I appreciate the fact that there are numerous strong female characters in positions of leadership throughout this one. And, that humor is interjected at the appropriate times...always like that when the action becomes intense..

Will definitely read on to the second one in this new series. This first one is truly outstanding. Charge your Kindle first~

The small town of Washington GA is one of the first places that realizes what is coming, thanks to Sparky Newsome, the local publisher of The Epigraph newspaper and Jackie Holcomb’s discovery of what was hidden behind Comet Oort the world gets it first look at what could send us back to a time when no man walked the earth.

Bobby takes us to Russia with Gunner, Bear, aptly named for his huge build and one of Gunner’s two best friends and Cam his other best friend who both were part of his special operations team to find out what the Russians plans were in this race for space either to save our world or get rich at the expense of mankind.

The depth of his research is unbelievable and not only excites but educates you. Needles to say the action doesn’t stop either and as always, Mr. Akart leaves you with another major cliff hanger as he pulls his adventure stories right out of the headlines!

Is it possible that the world will be destroyed by an asteroid or can it be saved? We are about to find out in this next series of books by author Bobby Akart. A masterfully written book that is compelling and gets the mind thinking could this really happen. Personally, I had never really thought about an asteroid smashing into this planet with the potential to do significant damage to our way of life or even drive us into extinction. The author does an excellent job of portraying just how I think our government would react by keeping it quite and spinning the story or better yet try to claim the asteroid and mine it for national gain.

What will the outcome be? Can Gunner Fox and possibly his team of Cam and Bear save the world or at least part of it? Will Gunner's past with NASA get in the way? Will foreign governments make a move recruit Gunner. We just don't know but we are about to find out. So hang on to your hats as we head into outer space.
