5.0 out of 5 starsThe Best Thing I've Read in Years!

I'm an American reader and I stumbled upon Oddjobs1 and absolutely loved it. Oddjobs 2 is even better. The authors create believable characters to whom the reader can relate, clever and hilarious dialogue and settings and kickass action sequences. This is not mere pulp fiction. It's premier Mythos storytelling courtesy of extremely talented and experienced authors. This is what Lovecraft would have written had he possessed the talent for creating lovable characters, smart, funny dialogue and killer action scenes. If either author reads this review, please take care of Vivian and Steve the Destroyer.
The world is ending. Well not yet. But definitely at some point in the near-ish future. Next Tuesday perhaps. Sure, Tuesday sounds nice. Pencil it in, make sure we keep our appointments. We do have a reputation to uphold.
In the meantime, though, our friends at the Consular Mission have their duties to perform. You know, stopping demon spiders from boundless prolification, drawing up airtight contracts with homicidal pre - teens, and keeping possessed stuffed dolls from running amok during telly commercials.
All in a week's work with the Birmingham crew. So if you like Monty Python, madcap British humor and the perfect cuppa, hop on over and read Oddjobs. You won't be disappointed. Actually you'll probably laugh out loud. A lot.
Well, this is the second book of the series and it's funny, witty, snarky! My review of the first book was also many stars but I *may have* used a socially unacceptable word or at least one that Amazon took exception to. So it didn't get posted. Sorry. But you need to read it! I'm off to read the next one, because I can't wait to see if M***g is preggers by a god, if V. stays in hell, and if Steve the Destroyer loses his stitching. Ta!
Loved book 1 and book 2 did not disappoint! Rod, Morag, Nina and Vivian are back at work saving the world. The characters are awesome. The absurdist humor is perfect. On to book 3!
Original story line. I liked the first book so much, I just had to have the second one right away.......and it was better than the first.......Hurry up and finish book 3........I'm anxious for more.
5.0 out of 5 starsHilarious, Ingenious, and Unremittingly Brilliant.

This book has everything you'd expect from a Goody/Grant collaboration, only more so. It's not just fast, funny, and fantastically clever. It's relentless, hilarious (I gave up on the laugh-out-loud count after the first dozen pages) and so ingeniously put together, so cunningly woven, one suspects the hand of something Venislarn in its design. The brilliant team of Nina, Morag, Vivian and Rod are back, all at their best, with Nina particularly sparkling in her milennial couldn't-give-a-damn attitude. Morgantus still lurks, all-powerful, in the background. The sinister Sheikh Omar and the Waters Crew make welcome returns. Jeffney Ray is alarmingly real, the Mammonites are everything you feared they might be, and Steve the Destroyer has to be one of the writers' best creations since Jeremy Clovenhoof hit Sutton Coldfield. So I'm looking out for more Oddjobs, please. Lots of it, and as soon as possible. Summon the magic pens, hunt down the infinite pages, whatever you have to do, just do it.
I loved this book. The characters and plot were great. I like the idea of the Clovenhoof books by the same authors, but could not get into them, due to the apparent lack of an overarching narrative. That is not a problem with either this book or its excellent predecessor. Highly recommended, cannot wait for #3.
The world is still going to end but we are still not sure when. This series is a riotous romp through Birmingham, office politics, and the apocalypse. Genuinely laugh out loud funny and clever. Worth a read.

As the title says, a great follow up to Oddjobs. Liked it even more than the first, even though it was even more an absurd story. I just want more of Morag, Rod and Nina!
Now it's time to move on to the rest of Heide & Ian's stories, cos if they are as good as this, my reading list is done for the rest of the year.

This book was full of wonderful lines. I had to put it down numerous times because I was laughing so hard, which just prolonged the joy. I don't get the Clovenhoof books but I hope there are many more Oddjobs to be done before the Soulgate event.
