Oh, no! The book ended! I was enjoying it so much, I didn’t want it to stop. I really loved being witness to Evan’s redemption and evolution into what I’ve always thought of as being the perfect mated-Alpha. His bond with Mike and reborn love for his brother was also beautiful to see. I highly recommend this book.
Worth the Chance is the story of Tyler and Liam. They were matched on the mates.com dating app a few months ago and went on one date. When it came time for their second date, Liam inexplicably cancelled on Tyler. For Liam, being in a relationship means certain heartbreak and so he guards his heart. But he cannot stop the way he feels about Tyler. Tyler values his independence, but his feelings for Liam are strong. Can these two strong willed men find a way to make a relationship work?
Great story! It was nice learning more about Tyler and Liam, about their pasts and why they are the way they are now. Reading as these two strong minded and strong willed men worked on finding a way to be together, fighting their own fears, was so emotional and fantastic. The story contained some humor, a bit of drama, and lots of emotion. It is a great part of this series. Definitely recommend.

Preston Walker just continues to grow more sophisticated in his writing and in his choice of subjects, and if the photograph of Preston on his bio site is actually the author, then you know you are in for a man who knows how to write steamy erotica. Preston writes M/M paranormal shifter romances and does that very well. His books to date include City Wolves, Moonstone’s Stone, Truth in Legends, Firewalker, The Mountain Pack Chronicles - Yearning for the Wild, then Prince Of Wolves, Truth in Legends, Not Wild Enough, Unexpected Love and Love At Sea, Uriel’s Forest, Regal Bloodlines among the many. Now a different take on the M/M Mpreg Gay paranormal Romance (Mpreg being the goal of an Omega with the right Alpha male) – in this very sensitive THE ALPHA COMES BACK, Book 1 in his Wolves of Gypsum series.
Plunging us right into the action of this novel, we meet the alpha shifter Evan – ‘Eight long years after I’d last set foot in Gypsum, there was still a familiar dryness to the air. Maybe you couldn’t supplant the scent of your childhood home no matter how long you spent living elsewhere. As much as I had tried to cast this dusty little town out of my mind, it was Gypsum that had banished me, not the other way around. My old alpha was dead. It didn’t pain me at all to think it, or even to dwell on it. It was just another crazy turn life had taken…’ The title of this Book 1 is well explained.
The synopsis is tight and well written as an introduction to both main characters – ‘Evan - Eight years ago, I was cast out of my family, out of my pack, out of the very land that had nurtured me since I was born. The charge? Shifting in front of a human. It might have been worth the banishment… if I’d actually done the crime. Now that my alpha is dead, I’m coming back home. I’m determined to return triumphant, to prove myself as the next bloodline alpha. Pack politics are complicated. But meeting Mike, my own sweet, eager omega? Loving him is the simplest thing I’ve ever done in my life. Too bad I can’t keep him. Mike - Gypsum is a small town. Crowded with tourists in the winter, dead economy in the summer. I’ve always dreamed of roaming beyond its borders, seeing the world through the lens of my camera. When he comes to town, it’s like a little slice of that forbidden, exotic world comes with him. I know that getting involved with Evan is a bad idea… but I don’t know how to stay away. And finding out he’s my fated mate? Well, that changes everything. ‘
Preston has created three-dimensional characters, not an easy task when molding wolf shifters! His prowess in delivering Mpreg wolf shifter alpha/omega men is highly polished and he just continues to grow as a successful author. Grady Harp, June 19

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the romance between Evan and Mike. Evan was expelled from his pack after his father, the alpha, believed Evan betrayed the pack. Eight years later, Even hears his father has died and he wants to return to Gypsum to try and to settle. When Evan returns, his brother Lance is now the alpha of their pack and the whole town is divided with their packs. Evan goes into a bar one night and he meets Mike, the omega bartender and Evan thinks he is a good distraction for now. Evan and Mike flirt and Evan eventually gets Mike to return to his hotel room. They have a connection and Evan thinks Mike might be a fun fling. Mike has never really thought much about settling down and is very attracted to Evan, even though they have decided to leave names out of their fun. Mike has never had an anonymous hook up and decides to go for it. When all the packs meet later in the week, Evan learns Mike is his enemies brother and Mike learns Evan is the town outcast with a bad reputation. They try to stay away from each other, but their attraction is too strong. Mike has dreams to be a travel blogger and wants to leave, and Evan just returned to Gypsum, wanting to make it his home again. They have a lot to work out and there is a danger coming that could change everything. I liked this book, it was a good story. I enjoyed how Evan learned things about the past and how he thought about things. Evan seemed to mature throughout the book and realize things were not always as they seemed in the past. I liked Mike and i liked he wanted to follow his dreams, even thought he wanted to be with Evan. Good one.
