Limbs from Tim Meyer is my first dance with this author and I have to say that I've been eyeing him for a little while. I love Grindhouse Press and have absolute faith in their choice of books that I collect everything they come out with so I decided that the time was now to dive into Limbs.
First off, I love the first person narrative, I feel like you develop a stronger relationship to the character and you're more invested in the story that way. And this is one hell of a story. Ray has an unusual preference and he gets caught in a bind that is pretty tricky. The story unfolds at the perfect pace as you ride along with Ray, his girlfriend Kayla, and his best friend Percy. Even his jerk of a boss Glen is someone you know and can identify with. Someone mentioned an influence of Chuck Palahniuk and I can easily see that myself. The story is funny, quirky, a bit uncomfortable, and a tad bit grisly. I promise you that you will not lose interest and you'll keep flipping those pages.
I honestly loved this book, I mean I adored it from start to finish. This is top notch writing and a fun-filled book. Now that I've finally had my first official dance with Meyer, I'm eager for many more to come.
