A wonderful read! This book has made me address the fact that a lot of my own thoughts and behaviors are keeping me from living .y best life. It's given me tips to use in my family life, as well as my gamer life. It's thought provoking and insightful, if you need to get out of your head, this is the read for it. I've had a different mentality since putting it down. It really does help make you feel better and gives great advice on how to improve your life by controlling your thoughts. I’d highly recommend this book to anyone who needs help getting through tough times or to anyone who needs motivation with Content creation. The comparisons to Mario is a great lighthearted approach you don't get form many "self-help" books. Even if you’re perfectly ok, this book can help push you to be a better you.
This short book is packed with good advice learned through experience and imparted with sincerity and humor. Especially liked the chapter where he talks about moving forward and not allowing your past to define your current reality.
5.0 out of 5 starsYour princess is in another castle

At first glance, "Another Castle" may seem to be only for the video game nerd, but its messages of positivity, honesty, and ambition resonate with anyone pursuing their dream. Schmidt's lens as a video game aficionado only demonstrates how a life filled with countless video game adventures only enhances his storytelling ability.
The true treasures of this book lie not in Mario's 8-bit adventures from the 1980s but rather in the themes those games helped shape for a generation. For those who grew up with the after-school goals of "saving the princess" or "saving the kingdom," Schmidt relates how we can learn from these common childhood games. He illustrates how even after consistent failures, Mario can get back up again and push a little further. Schmidt's candor in sharing that his personal roadblocks and barriers echo those of Mario being beaten by the dragon make his story only that much more relatable and inspiring.
In the book, Schmidt reaches out to the reader, advocates for them, and compels them to be their best self. Whether through loss, anxiety, financial woes, or self harm, Schmidt demonstrates how one can only truly succumb to failure when they quit. His personality shines through in this piece only because of his commitment to being vulnerable in his openness with the reader.
This book will be especially enjoyed by anybody with a love of Mario or Nintendo, of course, but it's call for persistence and dream-chasing is timeless.
5.0 out of 5 starsMust buy for any 80's kid or content creator!

The author shared a very personal story of the struggles to find one's passion and the challenge of dealing with failure and roadblocks. This book shares brilliant motivation all seen through the eyes of a retro Nintendo game player, who has reached the goal at the end of the castle just to realize the quest is far from over. Advice, tips, and personal experience are peppered throughout this narrative that shares the journey of creating a brand and finding the celebration behind each milestone. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. As a child of the 80's growing up in the NES era, I found the author to be very relatable, and found the message of perseverance and encouragement to be uplifting. A solid read.
Great read about the ups and downs of life, dealing and reacting with them, all while trying to remain positive dealing with the big punch-outs and continuing to move to the next level. The gaming aspect of it made it easy to connect.
5.0 out of 5 starsWorth a listen if you’re starting an online creative venture.

An extremely useful guide to taking your passion seriously, from the best and easiest content creation strategy to the mental game. There’s a beautiful metaphor in the backstory that helps frame the journey and obstacles. If you’ve been making or are making content there is stuff in here you need. The audiobook is excellent and entertainingly read by the author.
