1.0 out of 5 starsNot ok.

Nothing is more annoying than getting to the end of a book, only to have to read the next in the series to bring everything together. I won't be getting the next one as I didn't care for the first one. Not recommended by me.
This was a great novel about a woman and her family. It was clever how the author wove Laura’s earlier life into the ending. The adopted son’s problems from being abandoned were realistic and Laura’s handling of them very believable. The ending was unexpected. I can’t wait to read the sequel.
I tried to enjoy this book, I wanted to enjoy it actually. But it was just so tedious and dark it began to depress me. Some times the author went on and on in describing places to the point I'd become bored and skip through. I eventually gave up and closed the book in the middle of chapter 17 . I assume the child was possessed or whatever along those lines. Either that or the adoptive mother was mentally unbalanced but by this point I no longer cared about the characters or the plot.
I realized that I had read book 2 before this one, book 1. ABSOLUTELY must read these in order, this one shows how things got to where they would go. A woman's life, becomes so undone, with all she goes thru, time after time. A MUST READ Series!!

So the STORY was good, but the writing was just... so cliche and tedious that I found myself rolling my eyes through most of the book. A little hard to follow with the time jumps without dates that the chapters seemed to do. Good premise, could have been great!
Was not sure about this novel especially with the different timelines running at the start. But it was worth it in the end with a rather good story. The adoption of a boy from Peru who is supposed to be a witch. But all is not as it seems when he is murdered by his mother. Do not want to give away the twists, so you will have to read this yourself.
Libro muy muy recomendable,te cautivarà desde el principio....es el primer libro que tengo de este escritor, pero estaré atento a otras novelas que escriba. En cuanto al propio libro, muy buena calidad y a precio muy bajo.
