1.0 out of 5 starsBasically just a copycat

This is "How To Win Friends & Influence People" paraphrased and summarized. I was pretty disappointed as I flipped through the book and it all looked far too familiar. No point in getting this book if you've already read Dale Carnegie's original.
I was excited for this book and looking forward to learning something new. However, I was really disappointed with the so-called tips. They were really repetitive- it seemed like the author struggled to come up with 62 tips and just re-worded a lot of them to stretch out the book. They were also really common sense, for example: don't argue with people, be nice, be genuine, compliment people, etc. I honestly skimmed each of the chapters, most of which were only a page to a page and a half, and finished the book in about 20 minutes.
I thought I would like the book based on the 'conversational tone' in the sample pages, but I just downloaded it and can't make it past the first 20 pages. This is due to the amount of spelling and grammar errors on top of the writing style. What I first mistook for 'conversational' reads much more as someone just transcribing what they say with little concern for refinement. Fine for a podcast, not for a book. It does not sound professional in its delivery and made me doubt the authority of the writer on the topic.
How to win friends .... has become very old. How to Become a People Magnet is a new version of the similar topic. Author has described the points very well however it lacks concrete examples to hammer the message. Very easy language and no jargons.

Many great advice in dealing with people. As people we live to talk about ourselves. Approaching with mindset of them not me, we can gather more information about them. I bought this book. To develop my charisma skills more
Straight to the point and easy to read. Suffering from social anxiety, I am half way through the book and it has already helped me in seeing social life on a different angle. This book was a good purchase.

I liked the way the book is laid out using 62 points to help improve relationships. The information is susink and easy to read. It's like reading a summary of study notes you need to know to improve relationships by improving the way you communicate verbally and through body language. I will be reading it a few more times as a reminder to keep improving and stretching myself to become a better person for others and myself.
