3.0 out of 5 stars Mediocre.

I was really looking forward to this offering by the author as I had enjoyed her prior titles. Sadly, I was disappointed with this book. The romance lead-up was long and unsatisfying when the two primary characters reconnected. We all knew they would; just how and when was unknown. The give-and-take on their path to reconnecting could have been sexually charged but I found it flat. Too many surprises (what, she was shot? what, she was shot at) and sub-story lines were not fully developed.

This author is capable of great storytelling. Too bad this book missed the mark.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing and emotional

Madison and Ana were so destined to be together forever after being best friends for nearly their entire childhood. The only problem was Madison's father who would, could and did everything in his power to keep them apart. After all, Madison couldn't possibly love someone so far beneath her social status! The story centers on truth and lies. The pure emotions of this book definitely had me tearing up, angry, anxious and frightened ----but mostly just loving both of these women. It just astounded me how cruel George was. It did make me a little upset that Ana really couldn't understand why Madison had taken the route she chose. Yes, lives were changed but there was always love. That is all that really matters, after all. Many, many thanks to Elle Spencer for yet another wonderful book. I loved, loved, loved this one and highly recommend it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed

I am a big Elle Spencer Fan. However, this book left me disappointed. It doesn't even come close to Casting Lacey. The Road To Madison just seemed flat, lacking in passion and emotion. For me personally, I really missed the sexy love scenes that were in her previous books. I felt the dialogue forced and not making sense for the main characters at times. I am still a fan and can't wait for her next book! This one just didn't deliver.

I love Elle Spencer's previous books, but this may be the best yet. After reading chapter one I put the book down, stared into space and said "Wow!" right out loud. From there I could barely put the book down until I finished it. This is a must read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good book!

This was a good book. Very compelling characters. Madison and Ana were cursed from the start because of Madison’s misogynistic, homophobic father. All the way to the very end. The only objection I had was the going back and forth between the past and present. It was interesting but somewhat distracting. Overall, a good book and very enjoyable.

I finished this book yesterday and the characters are still filling up my headspace. I loved how the story was told in the present and used flashbacks to tell their history. Elle Spencer’s writing was so vivid that I felt every emotion throughout the book and the plot kept me on the edge of my seat. I can’t wait to read her next novel.

I absolutely loved this book- all characters were well developed and had their point in the story and the mix of past and present gave more details about the characters and why they did certain things. Definitely recommend this book!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars I love a good angst read

Ok I loved this. I like the soul mates torn apart storyline a lot. What I like better is one that’s well written and has slow burn and suitable amounts of angst. I even didn’t mind the switching from present to past times in the book. Something I don’t always like. It’s a great read. Just buy it.

Well...it only took me few hours to read this. So I feel like it should be longer. But oh well. Amazing writing. I felt both characters pain, and loss and LOVE. I can’t wait for the new book. So so sooo good. X

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok... but far from the best for Elle Spencer

I love this author and was super excited for her latest story however I was quite disappointed. It was an okay storyline, but it just lacked the usual character development I’m used to from Elle. The great banter, dialogue between protagonists was missing, it didn’t quite grip you and take you on that emotional journey and to be honest I just didn’t get parts of the story - they felt unbelievable and far fetched.
I normally finish one of Elle’s story’s and then immediately re-read it but I don’t think I will even re-read this once unfortunately. Hopefully this was just a blip as Elle’s previous work is outstanding...

I was so excited for this book that I accidentally pre-ordered it twice; an ebook through the publisher and a physical copy through amazon. I regretted this.

The flashbacks and current day events are unevenly handled. The relationship of the love interest rejecting the protagonist happens over and over again. It's frustrating and boring to read. A definite letdown, considering how good the author's book 'Casting Lacey' was.

When I first started reading this one, I had no idea what to expect. What a fabulous journey from cover to cover! The writing is superb, and the story is hard to put down, with surprises at every corner.
