I am such a fan of The Merman's Kiss, so naturally I had to pick up this one to read. Despite it being fairly short, I spent a pretty nice hour smiling and feeling happy reading about Zantu's brother curing his death curse. I felt so sad for him in The Merman's Kiss and was delighted to see that he had a happy story of his own. I wasn't expecting a full-length novel; I was expecting something short and sweet (and sexy) and that's exactly what I got! Very pleased...I just wish I had read the first one again right before to jog my memory.
The first book, Merman's Kiss, was so descriptive of the underwater environment that I wasn't going to pass up the next book. Merman's Quest was another good book, but less took place underwater. The characters were good, and we get closure on Ebby's dad, but it wasn't as captivating as I had hoped for. It's still worth reading, and it was an interesting set-up for meeting a merman. I would love to read another book that develops these characters in a more complex storyline.

Can be read as a standalone, but you get to know the main character better if you read the first book to know how bleak the futures of merman are. Rubac is a typical merman and when his cruel mate dies, the usual outcome is for him to die also. He wants to avoid the usual fate of a merman and to do that he needs to seduce and kill a human woman. Story is short, but enjoyed to find out Rubac's fate.
**Spoilers** After reading the first novel, A Merman's Kiss, my heart broke for Rubec. Its sad in this world that mermaids do not love their mates. But when he met Madison I was happy for him. I hate that he is not able to shift to legs so he can be in both worlds. It would have been awesome if the book was a little longer and he found away to shift from tail to legs.
In Merman's Quest, Rubec has decided to try and break his death curse. When mermaids find their bonded mate, it doesn't affect them the same way it does the mermen. The males can only ever have one mate & if she dies, he dies.
Rubec doesn't want to die. He asked a wise blue whale for help and found out how to free himself. But can he do it?
I am so excited that Rubac got some love too. I loved Merman's Kiss, but every part with Rubac broke my poor little heart. This may not have 'fixed' the heartache he suffered, but he has peace and love now, and that makes me so very happy. Side note: definitely read Merman's Kiss first.
One losted and lonely Merman that wishes he could get free of a matting bond of a dead mate he finds a young human woman and fulls for her which sets him free from the old bond to mate with his human and the love of his life
