Order of Vespers by Elyse Reyes
Order of Vespers is the first book I've read by Elyse Reyes. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. The characters were well defined and the dialog was witty. This book with its paranormal features kept me enthralled from the beginning to end.
Jasper Andrews was having a really bad day. She woke up in the school hallway with a lump on her head and a police officer blaming her for the explosion. That is just the beginning of her problems. Jasper and her siblings have special gift that the family tries to keep quiet, but the problem at the school has them needing to send her away. Tragedy hits and she is all alone and on the run.
The Order of Vespers has taken Jasper into their group in hopes they can train her to use her powers to help the keep the balance between good and evil. Are the Vespers giving her all the facts? Will she help them keep the balance they are seeking?
This book has twist and turns throughout. Ms. Reyes has developed so many intriguing characters each with their own distinct powers. It was so smooth that I could really see into their world. The witty banter between the characters and between Jasper and “She” really makes the book pop. Although this is the first book I have read by Elyse Reyes it definitely won't be the last. I look forward to reading her other genres. She will definitely be on my to be read list.
