Out of all the characters in this story, I think just about everyone was waiting for this particular book. I had no problem with the way the book went down, but I think I would have enjoyed a very different course for this character. The author did an admirable job of creating an impossible situation and somehow making it work, but it got waited down in angst, jealousy and the stage setting for the final book with Jacob and Justice.
Since the love interest here is from the past, it's strange she was never mentioned before and demonstrates a wing it sort of style by the author, whereas there were potentially no boundaries with a brand new character with no history. Also, I wasn't particularly impressed that the heroine was supposedly as powerful as Louis but showed little aptitude at even being close. Lastly, Louis deserved some fun for a change and this was a lot of trauma in general. I enjoyed the installment, I just didn't love it, and I didn't love that a large part of it was used to setup the final book of the series. I think Louis deserved more than that. A solid read, but could have been better.
