When I first picked up the series it was really interesting, but from the very start everything felt rushed, the story advanced with a furious speed and left a lot of unanswered questions. A lot of the big plot scenes there wasnt really any buildup, it just happens with not a lot of explanation. I feel like a lot more could have been put into these books. I would have loved to have learned about the deep history of the orcs, of their other cities and more about their way of life. A few of the characters felt the same in their writing, especially Vron and Vitagut, they honestly felt like the same orc. When Vron was first introduced he was working on a heated blade to cauterize the wounds of his enemies. How did he make it? How did it work? Who taught him to smith weapons? This could have been a massive and rich piece of the story, but got skipped over pretty fast and was pretty much never touched again. Then there are the fight scenes. Gah they were boring, not a lot of work went into them. Like when tace was first confronted by the censcecrated when she was getting the staff of jokan, thats fight could have been amazing, Tace fighting her mentor, struggling the entire time but finding a way to win would have been a much better read than her mentor seeing the staff and just offing himself. Same for the fights with ademar.
All in all it was an ok read, but I wouldnt buy the books again if I had the option
