1.0 out of 5 starsNot for Me

I can't believe how many readers liked this book. The plot was absurd and unbelievable, the writing clumsy and the characters stereotyped and generally unpleasant. The author basically uses the historical novel as an excuse for soft porn. If that is to your taste, you're welcome. Personally I regret spending even the few dollars on this worthless book. The one star is for the historical research which was solid enough. It could have been an excellent book in the right hands.
This is an amazing story of Agata, a medieval renaissance girl who was shown a life of misery and how she overcame it against all odds. If you love Italian Renaissance novels this is the author u need to read!!! Awesome!
I usually make it a point not to read books written in the first person. They usually turn out to be lightweight books not worth reading. This book reminded me of the Angelique series of novels written by Serge and Anne Golon back in the 50s and 60s, except they were better written and more interesting. I persevered with it until the end but it really wasn't worth it.
