5.0 out of 5 stars Grief and Loss

This book is different than others that I have read of hers because it is a coming of age/New Adult genre of romance. That being said, I still loved this book and can’t wait to see what else comes from Harborside Nights!

****WARNING****

This book deals with grief and loss. If you have recently lost a loved one, proceed with caution. I am telling you this from experience since I am still recovering from a couple major deaths in my family last summer. I went in knowing that there was a death, but I was unprepared for the reaction that I had reading this book.

****END WARNING****

Catching Cassidy is a book that should take you on a rollercoaster of emotions, but it should not disappoint romance lovers. I am going to give a secret away for what was going on when I finished the last 25% of this book. I had my iPod on shuffle, with my “special” playlist. The Special playlist is one that has songs that make me think of a couple people, the guy that I am in love with and my bestie. During the course of the last 25% of the book, the song “See You Again” from the Fast 7 movie played a minimum of 5 times and I had it on shuffle. Combine the song with the book and I sobbed and read through tears.

In this book, we meet Cassidy, Wyatt and Delilah, who grew up and graduated college together. Wyatt and Delilah are twins and Cassidy is their best friend. While they are celebrating their graduation, Wyatt and Delilah learn that their parents are killed in a car crash by a drunk driver. Cassidy was with them when they found out about their parents since she had found out some disturbing information about her boyfriend. As Wyatt and Delilah go through the funeral process and the aftermath of their death, they realize that they could not be in the house and decide to head to their summer destination of Harborside.

Once Cassidy, Wyatt and Delilah get to Harborside, we begin to see more about how Wyatt and Cassidy feel about each other. Although, leading up to them going to Harborside, we knew that they both were starting to realize that they were beginning to realize they had feelings for each other. Watching Wyatt and Cassidy decide to act upon their feelings and let the cards fall where they may was sweet but heartbreaking since Cassidy was waiting for a job offer in a different city and Wyatt was dealing with his parents dying and taking over the family bar in Harborside.

I can’t wait to see how Wyatt and Cassidy grow in future books.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Male Lead, Frustrating Female Lead

Wyatt was hot. He started out as immature as many other college guys, but he matured quickly after the death of his parents. I totally understood his struggles with being afraid to take his relationship with Cass further. I was in the same position in college. What I wish I knew then, was that I was going to lose him anyway by not acting on it.
Cassidy was really frustrating. I liked her in the beginning, but then she became more and more insecure. She started making no sense, because she did a major reversal. She was making mountains out of molehills. I think it was really crappy the way she strung Wyatt along. The story had enough angst before that happened, that I don't think it needed the extra. She was intent on screwing up everything she had previous declared she wanted, for something else that she said she didn't even like. What? I actually thought about not finishing it, but I hate not finishing what I start, so I went back to it later. Up until that point, I would have given this 4 stars. After that though, it got downgraded to 3 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars I need to get this off my system.

I read this last year and I can’t seem to get it off my head. Hence, I finally decided to write a review on it. Maybe writing about this book will help get it out of my system.

I didn’t know this was a silver medal winner in the 2015 Readers’ Favorite award for Realistic Fiction until I did a quick research on it in preparation for my book review. It made sense the book won that particular award because even without knowing about it, my book brain was clinging to the story for a year! Being finally aware of that information, it made me re-read the entire book instead of skimming and scanning the story to refresh my memory.

I am a sucker for the friends-to-lovers storyline. If you’re expecting it to have half the story with them being friends and the next half with them being lovers, that’s not how it goes. And when they became lovers, the story is still more inclined towards their friendship, also the ones they had with their circle of friends. It’s not only a romantic love story, it is a story about friends supporting each other and becoming their own family.

This is the first Melissa Foster Book that I have read. I loved it. It is the love story between long time best friend Wyatt and Cassidy. Ever since she was a little girl Wyatt and his sister Delilah had been friends and when her parents were always off leaving her alone Wyatt and Delilah's parents were more like parents she wanted. Wyatt was a player never having a girlfriend just one or two night stands. Then when their parents died Wyatt and Delilah had to grow up. He was in love with Cassidy but was afraid he would ruin their friendship if he acted on it and was even more afraid a relationship would not last. She was afraid too yet was drawn to him. This is their story. Up and down and good and bad. The book contains some very hot sexual scenes. It is meant for mature readers older than 18. You will love it. Very sexy and romantic. Hot.

A really great romance story when something so wonderful as two friends giving in to their true feelings about each other drawn closer together by the tragic death of Wyatt and Delila's parents and left them both devastated bringing them and Cassidy, their childhood friend and Wyatt's life long love. Being so close to each other living in their parents vacational home in Harborside where they escape from their family home to grieve and heal with their long term friends and to run à bar that was left to them by their parents. Delila finding it more dificult to come to terms with her parents deaths, as just before at their graduation ceremony she tells her parents that she is gay and they did not receive that news very well. So it sat heavy on her heart. Cassidy always seeking love and attention from her estranged parents who wanted their daughter to excel in becoming an accountant in the big city of New York, whilst she is falling deeper in love with Wyatt has realised that her vocation was in Harborside as a party planner's photographer and her heart which belonged to Wyatt and being near him made her the happiest woman on the planet. I just loved this story even though there was à printing error which made it à bit difficult as some of the story was à bit disjointed. But or did n't take away the enjoyment of à good story.

What a brilliant first book in this new series, the story and characters are so addictive and I can't get enough of Harborside either absolutely love it, it feels like home from home because we know it so well.!
There are two very sad situations going on throughout this story as if Wyatt and Delilah loosing their parents wasn't bad enough, at least their parents loved them and they were left a livelihood and security I actually thought Cassidy's situation was worse, heartbreaking, it made me cry so much, the fact that her parents all but abandoned her and she had looked after herself from around 8yrs, where would she have been without the Armstrong family, all I could think about was where would she go if she wanted to leave Harborside especially when she fell out with Wyatt she couldn't even run away to anywhere, I felt very sad for her, you do feel as if your there it all feels very real.
As the story unfolds we witness heartbreak and turmoil and a lot decision making before things take a turn for the better and we get a beautiful ending but it doesn't come easy though so be prepared.
Melissa Foster has this wonderful knack at conveying her story's so well and Catching Cassidy does just that, the story grips you from the very first chapter and before you know it you are completely absorbed with this wonderful storyline and brilliant characters which in turn we are going to get to read about and I have to say can't wait..
Looking forward to reading discovering Delilah..!!

Catching Cassidy is book 1 in the Harborside Nights Series by Melissa Foster.

I have read a few books from the Love In Bloom series and I am currently working my way through them.

This book is different from the others that I have read - you have got bisexuals, gay, lesbian and even threesome thrown in! and it is done very tastefully and sometimes had me laughing out loud!

This first book centres on Wyatt and Cassidy and they are so cute its unbelievable. They have been best friends forever. Wyatt and his twin sister Delilah have to deal with there parents dying and Cassidy is getting over finding out that her boyfriend has been cheating on her. Wyatt packs them all up and heads to Harborside. That is when you meet a bunch of great people and I can not wait to learn more about them. I am looking forward to reading Brandon's book.

Loved this book and can not wait for the next book.

A great start to a new series by Melissa Foster.

The chemistry between two of the main characters, Wyatt and Cassidy, is sizzling. Cassidy has been a friend of Wyatt and his twin sister Delilah since they were 5.

A tragic set of circumstances see the trio retreat to their summer home and taken under the wing of their summer friends just after their graduation.

Wyatt has always been their for his sister and tries to help her come to terms with their loss and accepting her sexuality whilst struggling with his own grief.

Cassidy has just broken up with her boyfriend, her parents are pressuring her to take a job in New York and she has lost the 2 people who were more like parents to her than her own were. She has feelings for Wyatt that she has supressed for years, should she take the job with the promise her parents are going to reconnect with her or should she open up to Wyatt about how she really feels.

Watch the chemistry sizzle and get scorching hot in the will they won't relationship with Wyatt and Cassidy.

Hot and steamy as well as tender and sweet, loved it

2.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the usual Braden books

I felt this book spent a lot of time focusing on gay relationships, setting up storylines for future books. Whilst I am not homophobic i enjoy the series for the straight alpha male characters, reading gives me a opportunity to imagine a life with those Braden men.... This book was giving me a lecture on parental responsibility of allowing children to develop their own sexuality. Without that back content it would have been more enjoyable.
