Well written with well crafted characters and good plotting, these stories are strangely addictive, always horrific, and occasionally extremely gruesome.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Gob of Ghastly Ghosties!

I don't watch television. I haven't watched television for five years or more. However... IF somebody in Hollywood had enough intelligence and foresight to turn this book series into a television series, I might actually start watching again!

Ron Ripley has penned some original and highly entertaining tales in his "Haunted Collection" series. I've read the first six books, and I can't wait to start on the final - or, hopefully not? - three books. Seriously, the way Ripley set up his backstory, he could write a hundred or more equally relevant and compelling episodes... and I'd read every one!

If you like a good ghost story - by which I mean the STORY is good, not the ghost - you owe it to yourself to start reading this collection of Ripley's books. He could sell these things with a "Satisfaction Guaranteed or your Money Back" warranty, and I doubt he'd ever have to issue a refund! Check it out....

Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Series!!
Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2019
I adore this series!!

Hanks Radio....
Stefan Korzh has gone into hiding and is trying to stay below the radar, but that doesn't stop him from sending out more haunted items! This time it's a radio that is inhabited by Hank. His choice of victims are lonely, elderly ladies. His seductive voice draws them to him and he viciously kills them. But Stefan makes a mistake, and someone is on his tail! Is this the end?

I devoured this edition of the series!! It was more action packed and dare I say, even a little darker than the rest. We almost have 3 separate stories tying this all together. First is Stefan and Bontoc. Bontoc is hired by Ariana and her father to find Stefan and kill him. He eventually tracks Stefan down and sees that he has encased himself in an impenetrable fortress, but to Bontoc it's a mild inconvenience. He is one tough cookie and I can't wait to see more from him!!

Then we have Victor, who is also intent on tracking Stefan down, but before he does, he has to deal with the items Korzh is sending out. His focus is on the radio and he has to call in Shane Ryan to help. I'm always happy to see Shane back and here is no different!! I love that the author crosses over his series. My heart goes out to Victor. He just wants revenge but Stefan keeps sending out things and people are still dying, so he knows his first thing to do, is to stop innocent people from getting hurt, then he can set his sights on taking Stefan down. You can feel the tension is at breaking point with Victor and I'm nervous to see what the author does next!!

Last but not least, we have Tom. Victor has told him to stay safe while he goes and deals with Hank, but Tom gets information and a picture of Stefan and decides to follow a lead. This could just lead to his death because one of the items Victor and Jeremy had dealt with. is back in play and comes into contact with Tom!!

So ya, this book was brilliant! I was on the edge of my seat throughout and felt like my heart would break out of my chest! Each of the books in this series feel like they are leading to an spic and explosive end, and I for one, can't wait to see where the author takes it. I've grown to love these characters and grown to love the world the author has created. This author knows how too give the reader chills and this one chilled me to the bone. Mr Ripley can't write fast enough in my opinion.

Thom Bowers did his best work yet here. If I'm not mistaken, he actually uses a lot more accents in this one! His voice for Ivan Korzh was great and he brought the menacing feeling of the ghosts to life. I felt like he really stepped up his performance here, and it showed!

The Burning Girl...
This series just keeps getting better and better! I know I've said that before but it totally does!!! There is so many things happening at the same time, that you don't know what to expect!! Book 5 sees Stefan Korzh unleashing the fire bug that is Molly! Molly loves fire and when her book is acquired by a hoarder, she finds an unsuspecting boy and creates havoc in the form of burning buildings and people. Victor and Tom have to stop her before it's too late. Tom also has to deal with a ghost of his own who wants control over him! Stefan is still being his creepy self. Nicholas and Ariana will try anything to get to Stefan and Anne is still on the loose.

The plot of this one was a little darker than previous ones. Molly loves fire and loves seeing it burn everything and anything. Her book comes into the hands of a creepy hoarder dude who has some serious problems!! This guy is one of the creepiest characters I've read in a while too!! Anyway, reading about Molly gave me the creeps, she was one messed up girl.

Tom is really growing up! I liked that he is trying to have a bit of normal in all the madness. Himself and Iris are so cute!! I'm intrigued to know more about Ezekiel too and am loving the introduction of Chaos and can't wait to see more of him in future books. All the characters were well written and developed, and you can't help but like them!!

In all, this was the best in the series so far. It was extremely fast paced and entertaining. I'm loving this series and am always on the lookout for the next one.

Thom Bowers is also getting better with each passing book. His accents and tones were great here and he captured the tone of the book perfectly. Bring on book 6!!!

Knife in the Dark....
Here we are at book 6 and the story is still fresh and exciting! This one takes a turn I didn't expect and even though it was totally different than the rest of the series, it worked really well and added an extra twist to the plot.

As per usual, Stefan Korzh unleashes more mayhem by selling off the haunted items, this time it's a class ring that's haunted by a killer who loves to stab and eat his victims. Victor has to team up with Ariana this time in order to try to stop Korzh before more innocents die. Tom finds himself in trouble with the intriguing Leanne and he is in a race for his life! Meanwhile Stefan is getting more and more erratic and is in fear of his life of Anne. He thinks he needs to step up his selling of the objects before it's too late.

The plot was fast paced and addicting! So many things are happening and it feels like everything is going to come to a head soon!! I don't know how many books are planned for the series, but I feel like Stefan Korzh is going to get what's coming to him soon, and I can't wait!! His character is one of the worst I've ever read. He delights in murdering innocent people and is such a vile human being!! I admire the author for writing him in such a way that everyone will loathe him. Usually a villain will have a glimmer of niceness but not this fellow. He is evil to the core.

The rest of the characters are as awesome as always. Victor doesn't know how to handle the attention from Ariana, but he knows that he needs help stopping Korzh and has no choice but to team up with her. I'm loving seeing these two together!! They are so different yet I'm really hoping their relationship goes a little further. I'm rooting for them :) Tom is loving his own life at the moment, until he is kidnapped by.... something. Tom has really grown as a character and I'm intrigued to find out where the author will take him now!

In all, this book was amazing. I devoured it and am so looking forward to the next one. Luckily, this author writes fast and it's out soon!! I urge everyone to try this series!!

Thom Bowers does a great job reading this series. I feel like he "gets" the characters because he brings each of them alive! He is always clear and has plenty of tones and voices for the array of different characters.

I was given this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This in no way affected nor influenced my thoughts

5.0 out of 5 stars A great continuation of the series
Reviewed in the United States on April 10, 2019
If you haven’t read books 1-3 of Ripley’s Haunted Collection Series, you’ll likely be a bit lost if you start with book 4. I highly recommend you read the series in order.

Books 4-6 continue the story, add a few new twists, get quite a bit gorier, & leave you wanting more. There are more haunted items lose in the world, people are dying, ghosts are menacing the populace, and Tom & Victor can’t get a handle on Stephan. I wish there were more details/background on a few of the new characters but overall this set of books is just as creepy and just as satisfying as the first set. I’m looking forward to the next book(s). If you’re a fan of horror fiction you should have Ron Ripley on your radar.

You may never purchase anything from e-bay again! LOL This story is so unusual - so fun. Ron develops an entire haunted items line that is being sent out into the world. Each of these items is horrific - remember this is a horror series - but there are good guys out there trying to collect, destroy and stop Stephano. You will have trouble putting this down - but isn't that the mark of the very best storytellers? ENJOY
