A beautiful story told by an Indian native. The writer specifically had westerners in mind when writing this. An often time, not everything outside the western world is portrayed as it should by the mainstream media. In his wisdom and knowledge of India, the author takes the reader through a detailed account of the Indian society and things that perhaps are not known by non-natives.
I enjoyed how passionate the author is about his culture. Through his words, Mohan Kapoor gives an insight of the beautiful landscapes, life and the Indian society as a whole. The rich history, exotic cuisine mentioned and all the lovely things about India will have you hop on a plane just to go have a good time in India.
Among the many things I enjoyed about this book was Mohan Kapoor’s own story. When telling about his life, I had the feeling that I was reading a memoir. I love when authors share a few details about themselves, as it makes me connect more with their work. I virtually traveled to cities and states like Delhi, Kolkata, Rajasthan, and Goa.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is green to India as a country, and would love to pay a visit to the country. The author did an amazing job in guiding the reader about essential things like travel agencies, visa requirement, document checklist and health and insurance. It’s a great travel read.
