Very imaginative plot and could exist in some ultra nationalistic fractions in Japan. The author apparently has done a lot of research into the history of the Samurai culture and blended it well into his plot. A good engaging plot but makes you think is this really possible today??? But it is fiction and blends historical facts with an author's imagination and that is good story telling...
The biggest surprise in this book was the abrupt and unexpected ending. The plot proceeds nicely with mystery and suspense building, and lots of themes in the story still unexplained, and then, the next chapter is the epilogue. And, this chapter was not satisfactory at all, since the threads left dangling were quickly snipped off with little or no explanation. At the end, I felt that the author still had a lot of story to relate, that could have been more exciting than what was there.

at times, I found myself on the edge of my seat, but the many simultaneous sub-plots we're distracting. I found it difficult to stay focused on the main plot with so many distractions. I thought there were too many details about unimportant characters. I will give Joe Weber another try though. I particularly liked the character development of the two main characters, Steve and Susan.

This book is a work of fiction but contains elements with a ring of truth. A militaristic Japan is a threat. This book reminds us that the United States must remain strong and on guard. I enjoyed this book and found it hard to put down. I recommend it for good reading.
An excellent story based on historical events and their logical conclusions combined with an understanding of Japanese fundamental beliefs. The description of the American FBI & CIA agents and their activities keeps one turning the pages. Truly an excellent story!
