Nicholas Calloway and his mother are banished from his father's estate in England and forced into exile in America. Their money stolen, his mother is forced into prostitution to keep them from starvation. Years later, Nicholas, now a rancher and bounty hunter, learns that he has inherited a Dukedom in England and he and his grown son return to sell everything that is not entailed. While there, he also looks into the mystery of his parentage. The book is good and I enjoyed reading it although I still am not sure if I read it when it was first published or it just reminded me of an old Brenda Joyce book. I would have given it 5 Stars but there were two obvious ways that the mystery of his birth could have been determined much sooner (one was in his mother's power before she was sent away) and I found that a little annoying.
Sexual situations may offend some readers.
