I have to admit that when I finished COHF the thought occurred to me that although Tessa and Jem would spend the rest of his life together, I didn't think at all she would have anymore children. The picture was painted very clearly of the terror and loss surrounding her when she fled her grown children rather than watch them grow old and die. And even though I didn't think she would have anymore children, I couldn't contain my scream of joy when she said she was pregnant. It was the most pleasant surprise of any of these books. I'm aware that magic is fading from all warlocks, so it's my hope that Tessa will SOMEHOW be able to abandon her immortal life, and grow old. I would love nothing more than for her to have that.

Will keep spoilers out of review so wording will be tricky. I did not expect as much detail of the story as was given because of the length of the ebook. I am pleased to have received such a delightful surprise! With short stories there is always the question before I read it of how much plot will be even possible. This ebook went back in time and forward to almost present to fill in missing details of what Jem and Tessa did during some of the books. Also, how they connected several missing plot points in all the series. My recommendation is to read all the books before and including QofA&D, plus the other ghost market books, and (even the shadow academy to complete all story lines for whats available as of now) then read this book. The way it is written it is adding to the other stories even when its writing sections of the past!! Hope that helps!

This was interesting because it not only told much about Tessa and Jem, but also about Kit's parents and the lives they lived to see to his survival. His mother was so strong and loved him always. Even his father, whom in TDA seemed so cold, was the exact opposite. Reading these stories about Jem and Tessa has me really looking forward to TLH.
