This book was recommended to me months after my PPD diagnosis, and I think I wasn't the target audience. I think this book would be better suited for someone who didn't know if they had PPD and they were trying to figure it out. early on in the process. For someone who knows they have it and has already been diagnosed, it's the same old same old. "Here's what PPD is. Here's a theory on why it occurs. Here's some things to do to stave it off/ lessen it if you have it. Here's a chapter for your husband. Here's a chapter on recovery."
The only chapter that was helpful was the recovery chapter BUT I was already fully into the third stage of recovery, so the only helpful thing I found was learning about the "false recovery" stage when you first start to get better. When I went through the 2nd stage, I had a feeling it was the "false recovery", but it was nice to have that suspicion validated.
Personal opinion is that you can skip this purchase and just Google.
Based on the title, I was hoping for something more... sympathetic? in helping me? But again, at the time I found it, I was already in the true recovery stage, so I just really think I wasn't the target audience.
