This is a second chance romance with an older woman younger man. Blue is an alpha male and a cowboy who sealed his heart after the woman he loved left him to marry another man even though they loved each other. Harper was older than Blue and his sister Blakes's best friend, ten years ago when they were in their secret love affair she buckled and gave into her fathers wishes, she did not even tell Blue that she was leaving to marry another man she did not love, she just left and now she is back to help Blake while she gets over her divorce since she already went through one. Harper realized Blue was not happy because Blake had invited her to stay with them even though the ranch belonged to Blue. Blue is bitter and angry and Harper wants a second chance. Will these two be able to let their past, anger and hurts go and reach for their own HEA? Get your copy and find out. Enjoy. I did! My voluntary and honest review for an ARC!

Looking to read a story about a handsome cowboy? Are you a fan of second chance romances? I personally can go either way with second chance romances. Sometimes the main character screws up way too much for me to really “forgive” their actions, so I really need to be won over in most cases. What I loved, loved, loved, about Big Man Blue was that yes, there was a hot cowboy, and that the story didn’t start out as an angsty love story where there is a tragic betrayal and subsequent fall out. The catalyst that changes the lives of both Blue and Harper took place ten years in the past and the story starts off where they are presently in their lives.
The story is told from both main characters point of view and there are also past-present transitions where you are slowly told the story of their past. There is an older woman/younger man trope and I will say that I was grateful that Blue was “legal” when the affair started because otherwise that would have not set well with me. I only point that out for those readers where that fact may matter to them. 😊 Now, don’t go into this book expecting a hot romance from the start, there is a lot of guilt on Harper’s part and anger on Blue’s part. Which happens to really drag your heart into the story because you are deliberating both characters choices at the same time.
Blue had never gotten over the betrayal of Harper leaving him to marry another man without even discussing it with him. Ten years may have passed but his bitterness had not gone away, not that Blue was truly aware of it until Harper came back into his life. Harper grew up with Blue because he was her best friend’s younger brother. When Blake, Blue’s sister, was going through a tough time, Harper came into town to be with her. Harper knew that Blake was living with her brother until she could get her feet under her and she knew that she had the possibility of seeing him again, even if she wasn’t ready. What she did not expect was that Blake wanted Harper to stay with her in Blue’s house. Never knowing that there had been a thing between Harper and Blue, Blake had no idea the stress she was going to cause.
Blue was not happy to see that his sister had invited Harper to stay with them. He never wanted to see her again and having her under his roof was not something that he was okay with. Unfortunately, if he was to say anything it would open up a lot of questions that he did not want to answer. Harper knew that she had screwed up ten years ago and she had never gotten over Blue. She wanted to tell him how sorry she was but she just didn’t have the words. Understanding that he was angry with her, she tried to give him space, but when things became really intense she could not allow what was building up between them to go unsaid. Would what they had together once be enough to build a bridge between them or would the secrets, fear, anger, and bitterness burn any chances of forgiveness?
Big Man Blue was an engaging read because I felt for both characters equally. I understood Blue’s anger and resentment completely. He was betrayed, made a fool of, and without closure, how could he ever heal? Harper was in a messed-up situation and I totally get why she made her choices as well, which of course was heartbreaking. My feelings alternated for both Harper & Blue and it was never about wanting them “back together” necessarily, I just wanted them to talk so that they could both say what needed to be said and move on with their lives in a way that worked for them. With that said, the ending was truly sweet and I was very satisfied with it. Big Man Blue is an amazing second chance romance that will tug at your heartstrings from start to finish and I highly recommend you get your hands on a copy today.

Are you looking for a romance that will stir your emotions? You've found it, with Nicole R. Locker's, "Big Man Blue." With so many themes : older woman/younger man, second chance, best friend's brother, enemies-to-lovers and a cowboy romance - I'm sure that's not all of them! The story begins in the present day and we can only guess and take sides, as to what transpired ten years ago, that caused Harper to abruptly leave and marry a man, she didn't love. Harper never forgot Blue, the man she loved, but Blue appears to not have a forgiving bone, in his body. Oh, but what a lovely body he HAS! Written in a his/ her perspective, it not only helps to develop these characters, it allows us to peer into their minds and hearts. High heat, high emotions, bad guys, good guys and as much drama, as your romantic, little heart can handle. A winning romance for Nicole R. Locker. I received this book as an ARC and I volunteered this review.
