The technology in this novel is not at all plausible or realistic. Neither is the plot, frankly. In fact, I would go so far as to say that the entire geopolitical framework of this novel is quite frankly silly. The word absurd comes to mind. I am pretty sure that the author intended for this to be so. Uruguay vs. Argentina? Come on, get real. The technology is not very realistic here either. This is somewhat odd, because the author has a distinguished naval background and certainly must know a lot about naval matters. But you would not know it from this novel.
There is some good writing here, that saves the novel from being unreadable. The frustrating thing about this novel is that the reader cannot but come away with the belief that the author could have done much better. RJB.
