**No spoilers.**I loved the first book and had been waiting for the second. I have really enjoyed the world of Caelestis and all of the characters in it. I have read all of Louisa Locke's Victorian series, which is how I found the first of this series. Locke has this amazing ability to create characters that are so well-developed that you immediately care about them and want to go on whatever journey they're on with them. I enjoyed the 2 year jump form the first to the second book to see how far Mei Lin had grown in confidence and her abilities. I was caught by surprise by the new group of people she met which gave us even more characters to love. I finished this book in one afternoon and saw the third had been released already. I immediately downloaded that one and finished it before the end of the day. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys sci-fi/historical fiction, and also the Victorian series as well.

I'm not really fond of politics, intrigue, and drama and this series has plenty, but the Ddaerans, Eurig, and the Savannah-interbred Snow Cats are SO interesting that I keep reading. And I somewhat want to find how the conflict is resolved. I love the concept of the round house community. I wish more people were thoughtful of boundaries the way the Ddaerans are depicted in this book. It seems Americans think gossip and personal insights into others' lives is a god-given right - even if you have to steal them. If you love intrigue and politics along with fantasy characters, I think you will love this well-written book. If you are like me, you will enjoy this book despite the politics because of the characters and concepts at Mynyddamore. I would rate this book as PG. I recommend this book. Mei Lin continues to develop her inherited abilities Her brother's true feelings are revealed and his scheming starts to be exposed, though he is unaware of Mei's telepathic development. More is discovered about the Reachers and Mei has far-reaching decisions to make. This is well written scifi that held my attention and will appeal to bother younger readers as well as the mature readers. Looking forward to reading the next in the series!
The story continues with major events shaking Mei Lin’s world. As truths and histories are revealed, it becomes ever more evident that the Founders are guilty of untold crimes against both immigrants and native peoples and animals, and that evil exists even within her own family. The question now will be whether or not Mei Lin can rise to the challenge and help root out and expose the perfidy of her family and the ruling class without destroying the world she is trying to save. I’m off to book three to find out.

Book two of the Caelestis series starts with a business trip to New Hong Kong followed by a kidnapping and rescue. Lies from the Founders are revealed and people from the past make unexpected appearances. All this leads to the discovery of more secrets and the beginning of a new journey.
5.0 out of 5 starsSo happy to return to the Caelestis Series

So happy to return to the Caelestis Series after reading Book 1. Silence, the animal on the cover, is a big part of this story of a future world with animals that communicate in thoughts, even in pictures. For a mystery reader to choose a future-world novel as one of her favorites - well, that tells you something, doesn't it?
Louisa has done it again. Following the lives of the Yu family from Book 1, we are once again drawn into the future with a tale of intrigue, surprise, and wrongdoing. And a possible romance in the making? A delight to read as usual. Can't wait for Book 3!
The second book in the Caelestis series doesn't disappoint! Continuing the complex story of the first book, major surprised keep coming. Having read and appreciated all SciFi genres for over 60 years I am not easily moved to tears but the characters in this series have a solidity and reality that makes them irresistible. I can't wait to read Book 3!
Another good read, with a great surprise following a kidnapping. It is all go for the heroine of the story, but she soldiers on. Her brother is up to no good but just what is unknown. Need to read book three to find out
4.0 out of 5 starsNot a book, just part of a series.

Definatley a five star story, but this book is only a chapter in the series. There is no conclusion without buying other books. This is a shabby way of selling books. If you don't want to buy the lot, avoid!
