5.0 out of 5 starsIt's Like a Sci-Fi Mashup!

I am highly picky when it comes to the Sci-Fi genre, but this book is amazing! The way the plot, and characters, intertwine with each other is impressive, and I am eagerly waiting for the second book to be released!
5.0 out of 5 starsA wonderfully crafted, vivid new world of adventure

You can definitely see influences here from Narnia, Lord of the Rings, and even Harry Potter. So if you enjoy any of those books, this one will probably hold your attention as well. This is a fairly light read for an adult compared to other popular fantasy series (which is nice for a change). For young adults the length, tone and content are perfect.
In this story we are introduced to interesting new lands, worlds, creatures and most importantly, heartfelt characters. I found myself laughing with them, feeling their pain and sharing their anxiousness. My absolute favorite aspects though were the thoughtful back stories presented and the in depth descriptions of animals, environments and food. I guarantee you will get sucked into the rich tapestry painted in these pages.
5.0 out of 5 starsYou will not want to put this book down.

Fabulous and engaging read! It’s been years since I have read a book in this genre, but can’t wait until book two of the trilogy is released. The story captures you on the first page and provides a wonderful adventure with each page you turn. An excellent writer with much more to come hopefully.

You can see similarities to other fantasy series (I would call it kind of a mix between Lord of the Rings and the Chronicles of Narnia), but it is definitely it's own world, with creatures unlike any I've ever read about. There's a good mix of quiet moments helping the reader (and Nicolas) learn about Telluric Grand, and action that gives it the excitement I like from fantasy series. The only part I wasn't completely happy with was how little the dragon was actually in the story, but the description of the dragon is amazing, and so different from what I'm used to, so it made up for it. Overall, I think Telluric Grand has plenty more stories to tell and I'm excited to read them.

S.L. Lovett's vivid descriptions of a world "near our own" places you alongside the adventurers as they fulfill their quest. Set in autumn, you can feel the chill in the air, smell the smoky wood of fires and the meals (!) as well. It is s superb setting, and while one reviewer described the book as a cross between Tolkien and Lewis, it stands on its own for its imaginative embrace, its depiction of friendship, bravery, duty and honor as great tales are wont to do. This is an excellent start to the series of novels forthcoming and will establish the author as an original voice in the fantasy genre.
5.0 out of 5 starsS.L. Lovett is my new favorite author!

As I read, I realized how quickly I was going through the adventure and I tried to slow down to make it last. (It didn't work). I absolutely fell in love with Telluric Grand and all of its characters. This is so well written, I could feel the fog and smell the food. I laughed, I cried, it was amazing how well he drew me into the story. Now I am anxiously awaiting the next book (almost as much as Benjamin awaits his next meal)!
Great first book! Can’t wait for the rest of the series to be released!! A great read for readers of all ages. Solid story line and characters, I’m a huge fan of fantasy and this story has the potential to grow into an epic story similar to the ones Herbert and Tolkien crafted.
