Wow timing is everything. It's not unusual for non-profits to adopt business principals and business models. They have been successfully applying those tactics for years. It is unusual for Freemason Lodges to adopt them because time and tradition are big obstacles. This book offers solutions in an easy to read and understand format the principals are tried and true and easy to use. I do recomend you start with Norman Vincent Peals best seller chapter in this book, how to win friends and influence enemies, your gonna need that for those grumpy, we've done it this way for fifty years, dudes in your lodge. I highly recomend this book, ya gotta start somewhere and this is a great start. BTW Samantha is really a pen name. Tune into MLP to get the rest of the story.
Sadly for the last half century Freemasonry has been led by men who chose to guide the future of the Craft less than practical methods and by long handed down rumors of tales from long ago instead of sound business practices.
Brothers Johnson and Ruark took some of the best pracices they discovered from business and self help books from the non-Masonic world an adapted them to work in the Masonic world. AS we all know Masonry isn't a business but applying sound pracices to lodge reccruitment, day to day business and our fiaces will make us stronger and help to eable use in our job of "Making good men better" for decades to come. I highly reccomend all Masons should read this book, and read ir with an open mind.
I've read most of the books the authors reference, so I was able to relate applying the various themes to lodge issues. I appreciate the efforts these brothers are making to drag Freemasonry into the 21st century (albeit kicking and screaming). Thanks!
A well thought quick read through several relevant business practices that can boost a lodge or other org. How many times has change been scary or committee reports dragged incessantly in meetings? This book opens a tool chest on how to overcome the inefficient and nagging issues plaguing any organization or group meeting.
Great read, gets you looking at certain things in a different way and in that different way effectiveness is just poping out at you and you don’t understand why you didn’t see it before. Excellent job brothers!
