2.0 out of 5 starsMore like killing it -

and not in a good way. I love the characters and the adventures and I was so looking forward to a catch up. I was of the understanding that we would catch a slice of Ethan & Merits' pregnancy. Well....not so much. Merit was pregnant, true - I was thinking we would get a description of morning sickness, alone time with Ethan, interaction of the House vampires and the expected arrival. Uhhh.....no.... It all felt wrong as soon as I read Merit (ready to drop any moment) going for a walk outside guarded house boundaries alone and unarmed. Yep ...as if that would've happened. As much as I liked Jonah and Margot, I never saw them as a couple (I actually wanted unrequited love towards Merit from Jonah). Someone pointed out that this should have been a freebie to the many fans that had followed and purchased all the books...as perhaps a little thank you for our loyalty - and I actually agree - it should have been a freebie. It didn't add anything to the story, not even a bridging sequence (well except for the other pregnancy, which just came out of the blue and will probably add to a romantic triangle). It felt more like a promo for the next series of books.
5.0 out of 5 starsExcellent addition to the Chicagoland Vampires world

I absolutely love the Chicagoland Vampires series! And just because the series is technically over, doesn't mean I'm not jonesing for an Ethan and Merit fix. This book totally delivers, plus some. I always felt bad for Jonah, a little bit, that things didn't work out with Merit because he seemed like such a good guy. Of course, Ethan and Merit completely go together but it's still a bummer when the runner up isn't a loser. So, I was really pleased that a good portion of this short story focused on Jonah's second chance for a happily ever after. I also liked the glimpse of Merit and Ethan dealing with being expectant parents. The only problem I had with the book was that it was too short, but that just makes me look forward to the follow up series that much more!
It is a delightful novella concerning Merit's pregnancy. A look at Ethan and Merit just before Elisa is born. The botched attempt to kidnap a pregnant Merit. The individual initially keeping Margot and Jonah apart. Some action, but alot more personal story. A nice ending to both parts of the story. A novella that could stand alone and interest readers in following the Chicagoland Vampires. A book highly recommended.
4.0 out of 5 starsGood story from the end of Merits pregnancy.

Quick read that fills in between last chapter and epilogue of Blade Bound. It's the end of Merits pregnancy and she really just wants to see her feet, until a failed kidnapping takes place. For a few chapters we see a second story with Margot and Jonah and their trying to have a relationship. It all comes together at the end and finally have a baby. We also get a little treat with another couple from the series. Hopefully we will get more history with the new series coming.
2.0 out of 5 starsother than to introduce a bad guy.

I know this was supposed to be an introduction to Elisa - very weak story.... Merit lost all her tough chick cred with this one - and I'm not sure what the Margo and Jonah thing had to do with any of it....other than to introduce a bad guy..... which could have been done in many different ways. If I had to hear how lush Margo was one more time, I was going to scream. Just very cheesy. Disappointed.

LOVE THIS AUTHOR. Series is so good. Great characters. Not a lot of boring spots ( always a good thing ) Can't wait for the next one. A have to check out. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. ( DELIVERY OF BOOK ). It got to me as advertised. On time or a little before. Packed well and with care.
A fabulous little story that most will really enjoy. Different from the rest as Margot and Jonah have a starring role in this adventure. Not a complicated story nor is there a lot of action, but satisfying none the less. Fills in some holes in the final book a d leaves the reader smiling. Worth your time!
4.0 out of 5 starsA novella worthy of endings and new beginnings.

It's been a year since their last battle. Merit is unrested since she's no longer able to fight a good fight. But that doesn't mean that danger isn't still lurking and patiently waiting for the right moment. Someone's past demons has come back to haunt them and now Chicaoland vampires are thrust back into action!
