2.0 out of 5 stars Ugh, return please

Just got the book, only in the 1st chapter. There are already a few typos that I noticed BUT above that as noted in my uploaded pictures there is FALSE info....

Stating that breastmilk is not sufficient after 1 and baby needs cow milk, No!

Also suggesting skim milk and non fat yogurt is ok, No!

I really hope the authors check this information out because a lot of people read this book and can take this info and run with it!

Going to return this book, disappointed

I very rarely write product reviews, in fact, I pretty much never do. But this book is awful and not worth any money whatsoever. I read other reviews about typos and thought someone was being snobby, and then I opened the book. I just read a page where an entire paragraph was duplicated with only one word difference. The typos are SO awful, you can’t get past them.

More importantly than that, there is no actual helpful information in this book. After about 100 pages, I’ve basically learned there are many ways to mess up your pre-toddler and how critical of a time this is, without one suggestion about how to do it right. There’s pages of the incorrect ways to play with a child and how if you do it wrong you’re impacting how they learn for the rest of their life. What is missing is the accompanying ideas or suggestions about how to do it correctly.

I think the worst example is the scenario where a child won’t eat fruit so one mom let her cry in the high chair for an hour and a half until she ate a banana. Immediately followed by the rhetorical question, Will this work for you? We don’t know. Well why are you writing a book then? There’s not one tip to avoid a picky eater besides this anecdotal story of the child protesting fruits who cried for an hour and a half before she caved.

I am so disappointed in this purchase. I was really hoping for some good tips and ideas for navigating this unique phase of life, but this book certainly doesn’t have them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Has a lot of the same material as the Toddlerwise book

Liked the book, I think my daughter is pretty advanced and was past some most of the milestones talked about in the book. It would have been more helpful if I read it back when she was maybe 10-11 months rather than at 14 months. It has a lot of the same material as the next book in the series (but I think the Toddlerwise one is much better).

5.0 out of 5 stars From Baby Wise to Teen Wise...a great collection

We started out with the Baby Wise book recommended by our pediatrician because our 8 month old was not sleeping through the night. We had great success using the information from the book and our daughter is now sleeping 10-12 hours without nursing or waking us up. So, I decided to buy the other books by this author. Potty Wise is helping me potty train my 3 year old that regressed when we brought our baby home from the hospital and Baby Wise II and PreToddler Wise are helping me not only with my growing baby but also with some things I missed along the journey with my 3 year old. These are great books for basic guidelines and applicable principals

I really enjoyed this book! It really helped when me when I didn't know how to approach certain scenarios with my toddler like tantrums, sippy cup/naptime transitions, etc... It's an easy read and well worth your money! Next I'm going to get the Potty Training one!

I cannot recommend these books highly enough. This is a wonderful system for raising your child. We went from problems and counseling to compliments and happiness. I recommend the first and second babywise books for the foundational information no matter what age your child is when you start. There will be a LOT you won't need (breast feeding info and the like) for older kids, but you want that foundation. After that, grab the book best for your child's age.

Some helpful insights and tips but was overshadowed by a strongly negative tone concerning the child’s development throughout the entire book. Children are a blessing and helping them grow and develop is not a burden.

Thank you, this was a wonderful book. A condensed version of wisdom for raising children to be kind, empathetic and compassionate individuals - all while maintaining, loving, healthy boundaries. The book reminds us to manage our expectations of what a pre-toddler can do; it calls on us to be active and insightful and purposeful in our parenting. A great book, highly recommended!
