Wow---just wow! Yes, I really did love this book and no review will do it justice. One just needs to read this to get the full effect. Deanna was a child prodigy, a doctor and a lesbian. Madison was a nurse who was straight----until she was able to admit differently. It was the story of how this love affair took place over a period of years and what happened to the two ladies during the interim that really makes the story. The writing was very well done and so was the editing (only a very few errors). This has become one of my favorite books and will be on my list to re-read. Having read some of this author's other books, I have to place this one high on the list as one of her best works and they have all been good..
This is a very good book written by a very good author. The story takes place both in Africa and in the United States and I have to say I really loved the African portion of the story because it spoke to the many horrific dangers that healthcare workers endure working in such an environment. Both characters are terrific and easy to relate to. There were so many twists and turns in the book didn’t know how it was going to end until the ending. I highly recommend this book.
this book was a wonderful read. Brilliant, out of the closet doctor falls for the questioning straight girl. almost the story of my life. My friend and I went to prom together because neither of us had dates (nerdy girls), we danced one dance and I didn't even kiss her that night. after graduation we lost contact for 20 years (only 10 passes in the book) then we reunite and both realize we had feeling for each other back then but were not brave enough to do anything about them. we've been together for 9 years now. just as the MC's were reunited, and struggled to reconnect, overcoming some of the same barriers really hit home for me. just downloaded 2 more of this author's books and can't wait to get started.

You will fall in love right along with Deanna & Maddie, a doctor & a nurse who meet in Africa doing relief work with Doctors Without Borders!! It's a grand adventure K'Anne Meinel takes us on in this love story, that proves to a soul-searcher as well! Can their love defy the odds & throw caution to the wind? You need to read this to find out!!
Enthralling novel. Beautifully developed characters. A tale of two very different women struggling with their love for one another. I highly recommend this book.

What a compelling story. This is my second time to read this book and it is still as great as the first time.. Thake a chance the read is well worth it.
This has such an exciting plot across Africa and the US. The main characters are believable and have a pleasantly frustrating "will they, won't they" relationship with realistic lesbian issues keeping them apart. Some of the surprises along the way had me really moved, and the ending was sweet and satisfying. K'Anne Meinel's lesfic novels are reliably well-written, entertaining and pacy.
This was a very unusual plot line - but very entertaining - gave a very informed view of the work done and the conditions under which it is achieved. I read late for several nights - good work - more like this please
