5.0 out of 5 stars Strong characters and it tickles your funny bone!

**I received an early copy of this title in exchange for an honest review**

It's been a while since we first met Ford Daniels in Friction (Leary's story), but The Pecker Briefs was definitely worth the wait! It's not necessary to have read Friction, but I think it does help because it gives you some backstory.

Ford Daniels is a partner at Knight & Payne law firm and his current case is beyond anything he could have imagined. When he gets a call from his client that his multi-million dollar project is potentially going to be put on hold, he's thinking it won't be too difficult to get things worked out, but that's before he realizes that the reason - endangered peckers - woodpeckers that is. And, there may be another complication, in the form of a drop dead gorgeous woman...

Viveka Jones is much more than meets the eye. Sure, she's model beautiful and she's an accomplished lawyer, but she's also smart as a whip, funny and charming. She has a way of drawing people in just by being who she is. She's learned that following her heart is the best thing she could do for herself, which is how she ended up as an animal rights lawyer and involved in this case with the endangered woodpeckers.

When Ford and Viveka meet, while it's under interesting circumstances, the chemistry between them is undeniable. While they are on different sides of this case, can they separate work from personal and actually make something work between them? Especially when Ford has never been a relationship guy?

I really enjoyed the strong characters that Sawyer Bennett created, but also the story as a whole. It was different than anything I've read for a long time, which was refreshing for me and it flowed so effortlessly. It had moments of heart, of reflection and it definitely tickled the funny bone!

If you haven't read the Legal Affairs series, you should rectify that and then add this one to your to be read pile as well!

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Chemistry

I usually love, love, love Sawyer Bennett’s books. They suck me in and don’t let me go until I’ve read the last page. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen with this particular book. You may think it’s because it’s book #7 of this series and I haven’t read the others. That’s not so. I didn’t even realize it was the middle of a series because this story is truly a book that can work as a standalone. There just wasn’t that extra something that kept me engaged.

Now, that doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy this story. I truly did. Ford and Viveka are both great characters and their chemistry is wonderful. Ford is so thoughtful and caring even though that’s kind of the opposite of what your first impression would be. Viveka has so much grit and determination you can’t help but admire her. Their chemistry is easy and laid back even with the explosive sex they have. There’s a comfort in their coupling, and that’s not a bad thing.

There were some editing issues that drove me batty. But honestly, they weren’t that bad. It’s just my bad habit of picking up every single misplaced punctuation mark or misused word. I’m sure there are very few people who picked up on the things I did. I suppose those few things could have taken me out of the story more than I realized and therefore messed with the flow. I’m just not sure what my issues were.

This was still a fantastic read. I love the title and the play on words. I love this author. As you can see, it’s still getting quite a decent rating from me. I’m just used to giving her 4 and 5 stars for her stories. I really can’t get enough of her Cold Fury series. So, if you’re a new reader to Sawyer Bennett I would advise reading Alex first. And then maybe a bit further into that series. Then circle around back to this one. If you’re already a fan of this author, you’ll enjoy this story. It’s just not as explosive as the others.

4.0 out of 5 stars Viv and Ford

The writing was amazing as always. I love Sawyer as she always delivers a fun, sexy, and gripping page turner. Viveka and Ford are lawyers on opposing sides of an animal rights case. This had a bit of suspense and plenty of steamy moments. I liked the ease of their relationship. They went from hot one night stand to more and it was comfortable and seamless.

My only complaint is I’m not a fan of the hero or heroine having an opposite sex best friend. Ford’s best friend is a woman named Leary, who is not only his best friend but a woman he used to have sex with?! Really?! While I feel secure in my own relationship I would never be ok with my man opening up to another woman, especially if their relationship was once way more than friendship. I just thought it was odd.

But, this was still intriguing and fun and worth the read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Case For The Birds

Ford Daniels and Viveka Jones are opposing counselors on a case about an endanger woodpecker or as they each name "the pecker brief." Ford is a highly successful, monied attorney representing a hugely successful developer. Viveka is a struggling attorney who does more pro bono work than compensated cases. Her passion and the only area of law she practices is animal rights. Talk about opposite sides of the legal coin. Ford is not a long term relationship kind of a guy but he's definitely interested in Viveka or V as he calls her. Unable to deny their attraction, they began a hot and heavy affair that borders on ethical conflict of interest. As things heat up both in the case and in their relationship, Vivica is threatened on several occasions and Ford is not happy knowing that it's his client who's behind the threats but unable to prove it. More and more Ford realizes that Vivica is the one and it startles him but also makes him happier than he's ever been. The case is finally settled mostly in Ford's client's favor but an outside source gets the final say and there will be a change in the development of the property. Viveka and Ford get their happy ever after and the woodpeckers live to roost another day.

This delightful rom.com was such a pleasure to read. The dynamic between Ford and Vivica was heartwarming and poignant and oh so off-the-charts sexy. Both characters are genuinely likeable and you root from them the entire time.

I don't believe I've ever read a Sawyer Bennett book I didn't like and this book is no exception. Great characters, a good story, laugh out loud moments and hot sex equals another Sawyer Bennett hit.

Really enjoyed this book. I’d completely forgotten I’d read Leary and Reeve’s story, so was refreshing to see where they were. I’m thankful Viv was a strong character as well. Please more of that!

It has been a while since we have had a Legal Briefs story, and even though this is book 7, it can be read as a stand alone (I can't remember the last one I read!)

If you have read the previous books, you will have already met our leading man Ford Daniels.

And boy, are there so many pecker jokes sitting on the end of my tongue right this minute!

Oh how did I adore Ford and Viveka. I was completely enamoured with their story, I read it in one afternoon as I just couldn't put it down.

What was great was that there was no OTT dramas, the story flowed, relationships developed organically, and I didn't have any "this is so stupid" eye roll moments (which unfortunately I am coming across a lot of lately)

I have had a few issues with Sawyer Bennett books in the past year, where I felt the quality of the book had been compromised for the quantity being released, however she is back to her best with The Pecker Briefs - yay!

The Pecker Briefs is a smart, sexy romance that has me wanting to go back and start this series from the beginning.

Can't wait to see what Ms Bennett brings us next.
