This was a very engaging story that I enjoyed reading. Danny has suffered at the hands of Harper to such an extent he has taken out a restraining order against her. Adele and Carl are getting married, but because of Carl’s past history, Adele has one last test for him, only it backfires. Danny and Carl are best friends, but after hearing Danny’s side of the story with regard to Harper, it is only fair he hears her side too. Then there is Lenka, who has her own troubles at home and Danny’s offer is just too tempting, but what is she getting herself into.
Danny cannot spend a weekend with Harper and Adele knows this; so why has she been invited to Adele’s engagement party. It is all Danny’s fault; he brought Harper into his family’s lives and she had tried to harm every one of them, in one way or another. Why has Adele not told anyone Harper was coming; doesn’t a restraining order mean anything? Nothing else matters but keeping Harper away from Danny, so when he spots Lenka heading towards the yacht he makes her a proposition; for the next 3-days he wants her to pretend to be his fiancée. Harper had put Danny off relationships for life, yet there is just something about Lenka that excites him. If Danny knew how much Lenka needs the money, or how attracted she is to him, then he would know that he doesn’t have to ask twice; after all it is only for 3-days. Danny had caught Lenka off guard and for a moment she thinks her cover has been blown. Lenka cannot pretend to be Danny’s fiancée if she doesn’t know anything about him or if she doesn’t have a ring; Danny remedies this, while telling Lenka to just be herself. When Harper bursts into Danny’s room and berates Lenka, she realises this job is going to be a lot more difficult than Danny made it out to be, but she is not phased when given the choice to stay or leave. At the party, Lenka remembers what Danny told her; to smile and act as if she is the happiest girl in the world, but wanting to be close to him just came naturally. By the end of the night nearly everyone believes their story of being engaged and Danny feels nothing but pride, knowing Lenka will be by his side for the entire trip. Finally, Harper loses control and has to be escorted off the yacht, but not before going into a rage at Lenka and Danny; did Lenka really deserve this? There is something going on with Adele and Carl too, Carl’s absence being a cause for concern. While Danny tracks down Carl, Lenka consoles Adele and hears the real reason why she invited Harper; in effect, she basically sabotaged her own wedding when her plan backfired. Meanwhile, Carl is trying to provoke Danny, by talking about Harper and he doesn’t like the way Carl keeps defending her. Both Danny and Carl have been duped by Adele; she had wanted to test Carl one last time, but for him it had been love at first sight, so he is naturally upset. Danny has never thought of getting married, but with one look at Lenka, he wonders if it is love at first sight for them too. With the 3-days now up, Danny will have to tell Lenka the truth, while Lenka will have to face the reality of going home, but what will await once she is there. Danny is on his way to his sister's wedding when everything at his office blows up. His CFO told his that he's going to have to pay double for the company he wants to buy. If things can't get any worse, he spots his neurotic, pathological liar of an ex-girlfriend, Harper, getting on the yacht for the wedding. He calls his sister, Adele, and asks her just what she's thinking, inviting this despicable woman to the wedding when he has a restraining order against her. She's been Adele's best friend for years and, when Harper spread lies and made accusations against their family, she tried to get her help. Danny knows that it's going to be impossible to spend 3 days on the yacht. let alone three minutes, At that moment he spots a beautiful woman boarding the yacht as she's going to work. He fairly runs to her and makes a deal for her to be his fake fiancé for 3 days. He'll pay her very nicely so how could she turn him down? They do a good job of acting before it's no longer acting. Harper flies into a rage thinking that Danny's still hers. I like how their relationship evolves and it is only enhanced by the craziness going on around them. Harper has to win the award as the looniest crazy and, of course, she's still wreaking havoc upon Danny's family. Their happy ending came about a little slowly and underwhelmingly. The epilogue made the story!
