I swear, this story just about broke me. Of course I've read the other books in the series and know how Liam and Josie reunite, but this is the story of how it all falls apart, before the reunion and honestly, I can totally believe it. I think at one time or another we have tried to live up to someone else's expectations and been pressured or put pressure on ourselves to fulfill those expectations. So Liam's journey actually broke my heart because he did try to show Josie that he was changing or his mind was changing and of course she was thinking of the things they had previously expressed and yet they were both so young, some things get lost in communication. What a journey and such a great series.
I loved this book. After watching forever my girl, and reading the book, I wondered why he left Josie , and what was he doing the time he was away from her. This books takes you on his long journey and all the things that he did throughout. He wasn't a good guy, and he was a manwhore. He was never in a relationship, just sex. But Josie was the only woman he thought of, and still loved. He never knew throughout those years that Josie was pregnant, and he had a son. She called him , he didn't call her back, and eventually blocked her calls. Sam his manager was in love with him, he had a brief affair with her, and when Josie and mason tracked him down to inform him Josie was pregnant, Sam hid all the information from him. When he went back home to his best friends wedding, is when he found out he had a son. This is a must read, and should be read before forever my girl.
Once again, Heidi doesn’t disappoint! I loved this book and so appreciated reading it from Liam’s perspective. It gave such insight on the struggles & pressure Liam had on him by so many people that he loved. Liam is a pleaser, and couldn’t figure out how to do what made him happy without hurting the ones he loved. I still don’t like Sam, but now have a better understanding of what led her to be so unstable. I wish this was book one of the series because it helped explain more of why Liam did what he did to Josie, Mason & Katelyn. I can’t wait to begin book 5!
Finally! It felt as if we were never going to get Liam's story, or at least it felt that way. I squealed when I saw that Finding My Way had been delivered! Heidi McLaughlin had me fall in love with Liam in Forever My Girl. We saw his life as he tried to get the love of his life back. But now we get the chance to see his high school years and his life as he became Liam Page, the famous rock star. Heidi McLaughlin's way of writing has always had a way of captivating me. Her way with details pulls me into Liam's mind and makes me feel as if I'm the one going through all of his troubles.
If you've read Forever My Girl, then you'll know a bit about his past. But now we get the REAL story behind the famous Liam Page. Wow! Poor Liam... he has so much pressure put on his shoulders. Dealing with an unloving father, an uninvolved mother, the only person that seems to be there for him is Josie. She's his rock. Football and Josie, those are the main focuses on Liam Westbury's life. But as his high school graduation and more importantly college gets closer, his stress levels go up more and he begins to feel helpless and as if his life isn't going as he had planned and envisioned. His only real 'me' time is when he is alone and able to freely play his guitar.
As we keep reading the book we keep seeing his stress levels going higher and higher. Liam feels hopeless and as if he's slowly losing his mind, and more importantly, himself. My heart completely broke when I read how Liam and Josie broke up, or how Liam broke up with her. Knowing how much he felt broken after doing so. After this breakup we see the story of how Liam Page came to be. One of my all time favorite scenes in the whole book was seeing Liam and Harrison's friendship form, and more importantly seeing when Quinn came into their lives. We also, finally, get the whole story behind Sam, and why she is that crazy woman we met in Forever My Girl. Even though Liam is now this world famous star, he is not completely happy. His 'Jojo' is always there in the back of his mind and in his heart...
I devoured this book. It hooked me in and kept me wanting to read more and more of Liam's story. Once again Heidi McLaughlin has given us an emotion filled book. Every single one of her books that I've read has captivated me and made me fall in love with her characters and this one is no exception. I fell EVEN MORE in love with Liam, if that was even possible. Seeing everything that he went through made me want to give him a huge hug. The Beaumont Series is definitely a MUST READ!!!
So this is Liam's story that starts when he is in his senior year in high school. He's the star QB and has everything going for him, well, except for his crappy family. But he has his girl, Josie, and his best friend Mason and Mason's girl Katelyn, so life should be grand, right? Thinking back to when I went to college and the life changing moment for my athletic career (broken foot = no swimming scholarship) things change whether you want them to or not. This book is all about pursuing those dreams when everything changes. Really a great book, must read!
You cant help but love Liam, he didnt have it easy! He was a really troubled soul, we didn't get to understand how his parents treated him, We knew that he loved Josie, that much was evident, It was good to revisit teenagers Liam and Josie, they had a great time, first loves, first everythings!
The friendship of Katelyn and Mason and Josie and Liam was great, getting in on their interactions.
I felt so sorry for Liam, after Mason bailed on him! leaving him to go to Texas University on his own, I guess thats where things started to go against him! The coach on the football team could have been a bit more supportive, but then we wouldn't have had the other great books in the series!
When he makes the final decision about dropping out of college, albeit a harsh decision, he goes straight to Josie, we actually get to see a slightly different side to her, she seemed to be an all round good girl, but it felt that they were destined for a break up had he stayed.
So he goes to LA after meeting his Grandma, makes you wonder about why his mother dropped everything to be with his dad! He gets to LA and his grandma starts having parties in his honour, although he does not realise this, he meets with a Management Agency, and its here we find about what made him really bitter towards the agency, with Samantha, even though things started well, they suddenly changed, he quickly got into the habit of sleeping around, totally unbeknown to the lives back in Beaumont!
He had a lot of guilt to work through, and as he says himself, he left it too long! and we end right where Forever my girl starts...............

Heidi Mclaughlin, for me, is an insta-buy author, especially when the Beaumont Series is involved. I have loved all the previous books and this one is no exception!
The prequel to Forever my Girl; Finding My Way tells the story of how Liam Westbury became mega star Liam Page. It shows us the young love of Josie and Liam and the devastation of their break up. We get introduced to the lovely Harrison; meet the good and bad influences in young Liam's life.
This book draws you in and gets you involved. It brought out a range of emotions for me and that is a testament to Ms Mclaughlin's writing skill. I went from heartbreak for Liam's situation to downright anger at him (when he slept with Layla ).
Which I kind of want to rant about....He professes to love Josie forever, that she's the only girl for him yet f@Cks the first woman that comes on to him soon after their break up and carries on with other women. He also states that he wants to get Josie pregnant (and does unknowingly) yet doesn't think that he might have done when he hits LA. End of Rant.
I had to go back and read the other books to remind myself that there is a HEA!
I loved this book and I hope the series carries on. I would like to see Josie's POV from this time and I especially would love to see Liam and Josie have another baby!
Once again, a stunningly fantastic book from heidi! I have loved this series from the start and it was great to see how liam, harrison and jimmy got to where they are today. I was screaming and shouting at the book from start to finish i was that gripped. Congratulations heidi, you did it again!
