We all have those authors that leave us utterly incapable of putting down our e-readers/books once we start their latest releases! This was exactly how I felt when I started this remarkable new release by Riley Hart.

The characters Caleb and Ryan were ABSOLUTELY the most captivating couple! I loved the way their story started out. As with most couples I have seen the journeys they have traveled to finally get to the place they needed to be in order to be happy, however, Caleb and Ryan's story is one that I have never come across before.

Theirs is a unique story to me cause I actually learned from them about issues I was unaware of. Riley wrote such an amazing in-depth story about these two amazing characters that I could barely put it down! Not only were the main characters so fantastically written into this amazing story but all the secondary characters brought just as much into this storyline as well!

Although Caleb and Ryan's story is the second to come along in this series you can definitely read it as a standalone, I personally was glad that I read the first book just because of how amazing it was to see some of my favorite characters from the previous return.

Through all the twists and turns, highs and lows, deep dark secrets, insecurities, and unknown issue finally being revealed, this has definitely been one of the best journeys I have had honor to read and review.

Color Me In is the fantastic follow-up to Depth of Field. Riley Hart shows once again why she is tops in the mm genre as she is always stretching herself as a writer and exploring new sub genres.

Caleb is Shane’s first love who returns to Last Chance to face his past. Ryan is a mechanic a at Shane’s business who is trying to rebuild his life after being dealt a series of devastating blows. The two men become friends who slowly discover they are much more to each other. Through their developing friendship , the men discover Ryan is demisexual and all the problems he’s had in past relationships start to make sense. I’ve never read a story about a demi character before, and I learned so much. The love story between Caleb and Ryan is so sensual, and Ryan’s responsiveness to touch made their love scenes incredibly erotic and beautiful! The two men are absolutely perfect for each other.

Another incredible read from Riley Hart. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next!

“I can’t promise I’ll be perfect, that I won’t stumble. I’m still getting comfortable in my skin, but… all I know is, being with you… it feels right. You feel right. It’s like everything was black and white and now I’m seeing in color. Like I was just an outline and you somehow colored me in.”

I have to say I thought about the movie Pleasantville a few times.

This was beautiful and quite possibly the most sensual book I have ever read. Ryan’s discovery and exploration into his sexuality was something I had never seen developed before and Riley just did an unbelievable job here. And Caleb was just the perfect balance for him…an absolutely beautiful and giving partner.

I made the decision to reread "Depth of Field" before starting this book, and I am so glad I did. Shane and Van played a pretty big part in this story, definitely more than a glimpse for sure. I once again found myself gravitated to Van, his story and his character. So much love for him.

This book honestly had very little angst. The passionate build was just amazingly developed between these two and the background for Ryan quite heartbreaking.

I will say that I wish we had gotten more of Caleb’s background. I felt his time away from Last Chance was underdeveloped and I desperately wanted more. I also wish we could have gotten a bit more of how Ryan’s father and Ex-wife’s relationship with them developed further.

But overall, this was another winner by Riley Hart. I am very curious if we will visit Last Chance again in the future as any opportunity to visit these men would be well received by me.

*Highly Recommended*

5.0 out of 5 stars ANOTHER DEEP AMAZING LOVE STORY

Two very different men, walk into an all night diner.... Ryan is a very nice but extremely private guy. Memories, doubts and regret keep him awake most nights. Caleb has returned to Last Chance, the last place he felt anything real. Nightmares, regret and loneliness keep him awake. These two men meet by chance in the middle of the night and find a touch and go friendship. They have many things in common. But what they share most, is the secrets their afraid others will find out about them. These two have been so deeply damaged, they believe, that no one could possibly understand or care about them. THIS is a beautiful, amazing love story. These characters are complicated, some what broken, but truly beautiful souls. I loved how this story came full circle. I was so happy to see the involvement of Shane and Van. The bonus scene was priceless. I love when things like that are included. This is a fantastic story with Ryan and Caleb, they are INCREDIBLE characters. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!!!!

I loved "Depth of Field," but I can tell you that "Color Me In" not only equals it in character development, plot twists, and explosive sex, but actually surpasses it.

There is so much I could say about both Caleb and Ryan, but you must experience their story and their incongruous attraction yourself from the time they meet accidentally in the town diner (just like the way Shane and Van met in the first book) until the very first time Ryan feels that he can be attracted to a man. How his attraction is explained, and where it goes, is one of the great plot devices in contemporary MM friend-to-lover romances. Period.

The incidents and plot twists are real, the internal battles Caleb and Ryan face are deeply plumbed and brilliantly written--and as I said, the sex is incredible.

I can't see another character in this book who might give us a third book in the series. But then again, this is about a town named Last Chance, and you never know what will spring out of the imagination of Riley Hart.

Wow! This book was off the charts good! I thought Shane and Van's story was amazing, but there is just something about Ryan and Caleb that hit all the right notes. Their chemistry is hot, and the author has presented demisexuality in an beautiful and heartfelt way.

I loved seeing these two guys find their something special, loved all their similarities, and that they were able to open up and share their vulnerabilities with each other as they got to know each other too. The witty banter kept it light at the right times - a good balance for when they spoke about their respective pasts.

I loved their dedication to each other, even when uncertainties arose. They were just beautiful together, and their exploration was so innocent and scorching hot at the same time.

The bonus chapter at the end for Shane and Van was very welcome, and beautifully written as always. I definitely loved and appreciated that insight into something that was mentioned in the epilogue - I felt cheated of that moment until I found the bonus content and then I was cheering.

Love this series and can't wait to read more from this author - definitely a one-click buy for me, and always a highly recommend as well.

Color Me In picks up where Depth of Field left off, not so much in the plot but in thematic strength. Caleb and Ryan deal with sexuality and sexual awakenings, grief, self, honesty, intimacy, connection. For people who enjoyed that there is much here to be enjoyed, moments with Shane and Van and there is the expected similarity in the writing. For fans of m/m this is a series I can't recommend enough, it manages to be beautiful, intelligent and seriously dirty.

The first scene in Color Me In is Caleb with the protagonists of Depth of Field, Shane and Van. It's not awkward, or as awkward as it could have been given the time that has passed, the pain that was inflicted on Shane. Caleb and Ryan's first meeting is my kind of first meeting, intimate, teasing and playful. They are in a 24-hour diner at 1am bonding over insomnia, insomnia cures and a mutual love of Chargers.

Caleb and Ryan are incredibly attractive, physically and psychologically. Caleb especially. After the life, he has lived there would be justification for him to have lost some of his humanity, but he is so human. After finding out that Ryan is a demi, has a degree of self-loathing about it and is relatively inexperienced he leads some of the most caring but seriously hot intimate scenes I've ever read. Their smut scenes are fire, all are different, all are hot as hell. I honestly spent a lot of time muttering fook that's hot.

To me Ryan is an important character in general. He's a demisexual. Demi's are rare in this sort of writing. Ryan has a massive amount of baggage over who he is. As an Ace he is quite relatable, that feeling of being broken is a thought virtually anyone on the ace/demi spectrum has had, even if the thought was fleeting.

There is a bonus story which I adored. Shane proposes to Van is the best way possible for their relationship. There is a camera and not many clothes involved.

(edited 10/2/18 because I'm a noob!)

Colour Me In: book 2 of the Last Chance series was a delight to read. I don’t want to give the plot away, read it you won’t be disappointed, it simply was that good. As we’ve come to expect, Riley Hart has a real talent writing about strong, yet fragile men, learning to find their way, healing and falling in love and connecting with their soul mate.

As with her first book Depth of Field, Hart takes us on an emotional journey that pulls at heart strings in the best way possible, and as we all cheer for our sexy heroes, even their down and dirty sexy times was delicious and written with a real emotional connection that made the men shine together as they fell in love.

Caleb and Ryan, two men each with vastly different life stories, are strong, yet fragile in their own way and at times both men feel unworthy, insecure and like their existence in Last Chance, is some sort of penance for the way their lives have turned out. While they’re not looking for romance, they individually acknowledge they’re both seeking something, a connection, beyond the superficial. For Ryan it needs to be something solid and real, because his heart has to be involved before he can even consider attraction to another person.

From the first chapter it’s clear both men are a emotionally battered yet recovering, a bit lost, a bit adrift, and definitely lonely. They’re both in Last Chance ( Ryan because he was running from heartache and needed the work, and Caleb because he grew up in the town and as an adult he’s come home to roost) in the hope they might ‘examine their lives and find themselves’. They meet and connect over late night coffee, similar cars, and a sense that each man is as alone as they both feel. While they banter and open up to each other, without intending to, they unexpectedly hit it off, and can see the potential for a great new friendship. That friendship unexpectedly soon evolves into love.

This series is shaping up to be simply fabulous, with each book getting better and better, (if that’s even remotely possible) with cameos from the gorgeous Shane and the sexy Van, it’s wall to wall smoking hot men and sexy times with tender hearts and lovesick yearning and a great HEA. So, so good this installment. Fast paced, tidy plot, great secondary characters, including the ex, who thankfully was a really lovely woman who felt regret and love and now was on her own journey.

For lovers of reading friends to lovers with low angst, and even an exploration of sexuality, you’ll adore this latest book. Highly recommended, wish I could give it more than 5 Stars, Riley Hart deserves it.
