2.0 out of 5 stars Good Story But Many Editing Errors

This story was a decent story, and I will admit it kept me through to the end. It was the story that made the 2 star review in fact

Now on to the rest. The editing mistakes were glaring. Punctuation errors were abundant. There were spelling errors, character name consistency issues, sentence structure and length problems, and so much more.

I understand this may have been written for possibly a UK or AU audience but these were basic spelling and sentence errors to the point a few sentences made no sense.

I feel bad leaving such a poor review, but books should be edited and cleaned up more before offered for review to get more stars.

3.0 out of 5 stars Dark twisted monster tale

I wish I could give this book a higher rating! The story was well told and would make an excellent B horror flick. It had some truly creepy moments and a villain who I'm sure could garner supporters even if he took things to the extreme with his inflexible rules. Plus some of the people caught in his net, well, let's just say this book has more than one monster. In parts it made me think of a horrific twilight zone version of Fern Gully.

So why isn't this a 5 star book? It really needs to be gone over by a professional editor. The punctuation was inconsistent between US and UK conventions and sometimes didn't follow either. One character's last name changed, there were a few auto-correct type incorrect word choices, and a few awkward sentences.

Vicki vs the Spriggan is a paranormal suspense Tale that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The plot is well-developed and fast-paced. The character a Vicky comes to life on the page. The spriggan is sympathetic and yet terrifying at the same time. I read this book in one sitting and we'll definitely be following the series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nature has a protector
Reviewed in the United States on November 19, 2019
Our heroine is on a work-study type program in Australia, helping to restore an old vineyard. Turns out that it is protected by an ancient spirit that doesn't want it restored.

This is a combination of SF and fantasy, with a touch of horror as well. The spriggan, our nature spirit, is not nice in how it deals with intruders. The story itself is well written and easy to read. Most of our characters don't get a lot of development, with the exception of our heroine, whom I really like. Her boyfriend is definitely a supporting character from off-screen, but he has a lot of potential as well. Overall, the story was enjoyable, if a bit predictable in a horror story kind of way. Our heroine even remarked on that in the story. Still, I plan to give the next story a read as well to see where this goes.

Recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Really enjoyable

This is a tale of Nature taking her revenge on mankind, and it a truly enjoyable one.

Most of the human characters are all so... not nice that you struggle to not wish for the Spriggan had its wicked way :P Vicky is an interesting, complex character, same as Brin. And I enjoyed a lot the Spriggan's journey from its awakening to its end: the way its conscience grows along with its knowledge on the era... really well done.

The narration was amazing and adds to the overall enjoyment of the book.

A fitting story for Halloween :)

5.0 out of 5 stars The story of the distant past when things were simple to the present day chaos.
Reviewed in the United States on February 18, 2019
From the days of the Druids when time was simple to the present day with greed and no concern for nature.
The spriggan awoke to find his idyllic world destroyed by the advent of modern day machinery and disregard for nature. He would find his revenge against those who hurt the creatures of the world. He would save his home grove and kill those who tried to destroy it. It started 20 years ago when a farm family was killed and the true story was never found. Now, 20 years later mysterious disappearances are happening. People are going missing. A group of young people are bought out to a run down vineyard to work for three months to extend their Visa’s to remain in Australia. From the first day there is tension. The farm work started the next morning and weird things started happening. Bree is stung by bees and Nick is missing. The spriggan is on the hunt and no one is aware of what is happening but fear is taking over. A great read about those seeking easy riches, disregard for nature and the resulting events for all involved. This is my honest, voluntary review of a copy of this free book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nature's revenge
Reviewed in the United States on October 25, 2019
I rather liked this story. I made me laugh out loud as I read it. While the Spriggan starts out the story seeming to be the bad guy it was really hard to like the humans and not root for the Spriggan. I liked the flow of the story as I watched what happened from both sides. Just a fun story of Nature getting even. A good story if you need a light hearted read with a bit of a twist.
