The girls loved this story. I read it in three sittings, which for them is a big deal. I read half the book tonight because they wanted me to keep reading to find out what happens next. Andi, who we have gotten to know in the earlier books is a bit of a tomboy. She likes to wear overalls, catch bugs and ride her horses. Well, their Aunt Rebecca comes over for Christmas and spends most of her time trying to "help" Andi act more like a little lady and Andi is having trouble with all of it.
I didn't love how everyone just did what mean old Aunt Rebecca said, and the mom sat quietly by while all of this takes place, but the author does explain that Auntie is the older sister of their late father and that is kind of the way things go sometimes. I suppose for our youngest readers, they don't need to read about adults disagreeing over kids, and can use good examples of obeying, even when you don't want to, or even when it's unfair, but I do wish the mom had stepped in just a bit more while all of this took place. The mom does offer a few breaks for Andi to get away and be herself and there is a surprise twist that proves being able to get dirty comes in handy sometimes. This one was definitely a hit with my kiddos

This short, 88 page book is great for young children who are either just starting our on their reading adventures or those who have been reading for awhile. Geared to ages 6 to 8 - all of my children enjoyed this book, including my then 4 year old son who got caught up in the story. Andi as she is known but whose Aunt wants her to go by her given name, Andrea and sets forth other rules to make her more like a lady.
This is a cute book that instill faith, respect, and love of family - Andi does her best to honor her Aunt even though she doesn't agree with her but knows that when her Aunt wants her to do something that could endanger them both she must go against what her Aunt wants. This book has a positive message and is so great at building up character traits that we all want to strive for in our Christian walk. Along with this book Kregal has come up with supplemental materials that go along with the book, such as coloring pages, dot to dots, vocabulary, maps, math, and more. Each activity download has 20 pages - I like these for the restless child who listens better while doing something with their hands or to reiterate a lesson after reading the book or chapter.
**I was given a copy of this book from Kregel Publications in exchange for my honest review, no other compensation was given.
