4.0 out of 5 starsAn oldy but a goody

I was first introduced to Jilly Cooper with her Rutshire Chronicles series, the first four books of which are wonderful. Her newer stuff is not to my liking but discovering her old novellas has been a real treat. Prudence is good. My favourites are Octavia and Imogen.

In true Cooperesque fashion, a countryside farce with the landed gentry. Prudence, a likeable protagonist. When Prudence meets boyfriend Pendle's, less than functional, family chaos ensues. An early Jilly Cooper and, if you enjoy her writing, thoroughly entertaining. An enjoyable read.

Not having read a Jilly Cooper novel for sometime. I read the reviews of this early one and thought I’d give it a go. I was not disappointed, a good few laugh out loud bits and a very easy read. Can happily recommend it.
