Anna Jacobs has become one of my favorite writers. I enjoyed her series on the Gibson family tremendously, but I love this wonderful series even more. I feel like I am back in the early 30's and have a better understanding of how truly desperate the situation was for so many. The characters are lovely and I am going to miss them very much! Thank you, Anna!

One Special Village written by Anna Jacobs is the third book in this very readable series and for me, it is another book where Anna Jacobs certainly knows how to bring her characters and their surroundings alive. In this book, we are brought back to Ellindale and once again Anna Jacobs introduces new characters who are welcomed into the village. This is another cosy read yet Anna Jacobs of showing how life was for those who had no money even to buy a stale loaf, yet those same starving men were sometimes the first men to offer help in any way they could. Those same men who walked the roads seeking out work while others would rather steal and cause trouble for those who they lived beside all their lives. This is a brilliant read which not only was based on the new residents of Ellindale and Ravenshaw but also those residents we first met in the first two books in this wonderful series. A great work of historical fiction which I am very happy to recommend.

The book is well written, the characters are very interesting and, in truth, it has been difficult to stop reading! It is a compelling tale which is totally believable. I thoroughly enjoyed the previous two books in the Ellindale series. I had not read any novels by Anna Jacobs before. However, now I look forward to reading her other books! I highly recommend reading these books!

Easy reading and uplifting story line. This is the third of four books. Number 4 not yet available until September. Can’t wait! Very reasonably priced. Would make an excellent tv drama or film. Each book has a different story line but includes some main characters and locations. A feel good story line which illustrates the best in human compassion and kindness, especially in times when most people had ver little. Excellent relaxation reading. Anna Jacobs is a very competent author and creates a realistic story line.
Anna is a amazing author the village of Ellindale a really lovely place to live in such desperate times i felt sad for a lot of the people who were struggling to feed their families and would do anything just to earn a penny or tuppence to feed just the children and felt uplifted to read how helpful they all were it's a a shame how standards have dropped in todays.I've read quite a few of Anna Jacobs saga books and loved every one can't wait to read no4 in this one.thank you Anna.

I have enjoyed this book but did find it a bit tedious at times, so much unnecessary (I thought) detail about getting the railway carriage in place. I have read a lot of Anna Jacobs books and they all seem to have a similar theme. Bad people doing outrageous things which seem a little far fetched. Also th ed love life of the people Is so predictable.
