4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Addition to a Fun Series

I, once again, liked this book in the series, but didn't love it (like many of the earlier books). I felt some of the storylines have been drug out for too long and i must say, I'm rather relieved the storyline between Charlie and Lincoln has sort of ended (I do realize this isn't the end of the series as a whole). I did still enjoy the book. I was a little surprised by certain revelations and I'm glad Alice's story isn't over yet. It's a fun a unique take on Alice in Wonderland. I felt that Charlie's character has finally grown-up well and she's become a strong, independent female character that embraces who she is while still able to lean on her family and friends. Lincoln - I want to love his character, but I feel he changed too much and became flat and less interesting as the series has continued. I realize he needed to change some, but I want more of the original rough edge to shine through more. Overall, good read and I'm definitely looking forward to Alice's story.

Warning Spoilers:

The author did an excellent job tying everything together in the last book and setting up a spin-off with Alice. The only drawback was the tease at the end. I wasn't looking for a nora roberts style sex scene. Okay maybe a little but can you blame me? "He cupped my breast through the muslin and stroked his thumb across my nipple"( C.J. Archer). If that doesn't ignite a fire in you than count yourself lucky you wont need a cold shower. Other than that, it was a good book. Just don't expect to be hopping in bed with the characters at the end. All in all, a great series. [This review is all in good fun and I wholeheartedly enjoyed this book]

The Ministry of Curiosities's future is unclear with the corruption and I can't imagine what the next book will entail. I can't wait for the next book to find what happens with Alice, Seth, and Lady Vickers who I adore. I for one am happy that the author alter the content of the book. I would be disappointed with a huge love scene between Lincoln and Charlie as it's the tone for the series.

There were many twists in the stories and characters I trusted or thought I knew did things I never expected. I'm still on the fence about the changes in Gilly. I think it's gone a little too far, although he had some moments in this book.

Harriet is still a mystery to me and I'm looking forward to finding out how she'll be as a mother.

I thought this was the last MoC book, but apparently not. This one was intriguing, with lots of twists and one VERY big shock towards the end. The Freak House connection seemed tacked on to me. It didn’t feel necessary, and as I have only read one book from that series, it felt forced to me. Other than that, the complications that come up to get to Charlie and Lincoln‘s wedding were exciting. I knew Alice’s “gift” would come in handy, and we get more about her. I’m looking forward to the next installment. I would give 3 1/2 stars, but I love this series, so 4.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love This Series!

Beyond good characters, good writing, and excellent stories, C.J. Archer has the wonderful ability to write a series in the proper way. I do not say she has exercised that talent in all of her series,(The Freak House come to mind), but here in the Ministry of Curiosities she has done so with skill and panache. Each book has presented a particular problem that our cast of characters must deal with and the solution to that problem. The interpersonal relationships, the underlying principles of Ministry business and secrets, all evolve and change and bind together a series that is innovative and interesting and satisfying. Happily looking forward to book ten.

An excellent addition to the series. Charlie has come to the fore again and fought for her friends and future. I enjoyed this read tremendously. I had no idea who the culprit truly was and a surprising but fitting end for Julia and her scheming. It seems that there are still exciting adventures to come for Alice, Charlie and the rest of the gang. And I am holding thumbs for Mrs V to find true love and happiness.

To say that his 9th book in the Ministry of Curiosities series has some unpredictable moments, is an understatement. Charlie and Lincoln's happily ever after was never going to come easy, but it does come. We learn more about Alice and discover who is really loyal to the Ministry and who is not. Quite a bit was uncovered, resolved, and left hanging for book 10.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best instalment of the series so far!!

The best one so far! I loved it from start to finish. The characters really came into their own, with the reader really getting to know each character and their personalities, but C.J. Archers wonderful story lines speaks for themselves. There is so much going on in this instalment. You have the romantic countdown to Charlie and Lincoln's wedding, with the major plot of disturbing murders happening again, but behind that, is a wonderful sub plot of Alice, Wonderland and the white rabbit. This book was a real page turner, which was sad because it meant that I finished this fantastic book too quickly. You get completely drawn in to Charlie and Lincoln's relationship, your heart goes out to them as they battle this latest mystery, so close to finally becoming husband and wife, it is a real 'will they', 'won't they' story. Can't wait for the next instalment. If you haven't read any of the Ministry of Curiosities, don't delay because you will certainly be in for a treat! Start at the beginning... It is a wonderful ride.

Absolutely loved the entire series. Have to say this one was the best. With a mixture of feelings, I couldn't wait to read the next page but also hated it as Charlie, Lincoln and their friends and famiies story was coming to an end. Would HIGHLY RECOMMEND READING the entire collection of the Ministry of curiosity series. Have just read that there is to be a book 10 so cant wait for ita release. Thank you C J Archer for your Brilliant imagination and gift of story telling. Just started reading The Medium so hope it is as good.
