The "Bruno, Chief of Police" book is the first in a series of books that I would class as delightful murder mysteries. They are all set in the Perigord--in the Dodorgne region of central France. The author lives here and knows the wonderful people of the region--their lifestyle which I really envy, their delicious food, the camaraderie, the animals, the friendly souls, and sprinkled throughout his books are his descriptions of mushroom and truffle gathering, community celebrations, the please of a long lunch with friends and good wine. There is always a murder but it is always an interesting one! I LOVE these books. So far I've read all that he has published and I really need more.
I adore all the Bruno books as It is very interesting peep into life in that part of France I am a cook and very much enjoy the references to food and wine I am planing a visit to that area for the 3rd time I would love a copy of Martin Walker’s Cook book but cannot speak German Why is only printed in German?😢
This is another excellent story in the Bruno Chief of Police series. The characters and their lives are well developed, as always, and the setting in the beautiful Dordogne region of France, all add to the interest. I have read all the books in this series and enjoyed every one. I hope there will be more. One small point: I recommend reading the books in order, as the crimes stand alone but the characters' stories develop from book to book.
