The Author covers many areas of taking a kayak from the beach to the open ocean, including preparation, launching, fishing, baits and equipment management, return to shore, tips and tricks, and more.
Overall I enjoyed the book. I did however have a few instances of trying to determine what was personal journal and what was informative (how-to) portions in the early stages of reading. However, once I understood the Author's writing style, this mild confusion went away and I was able to really enjoy the adventures that the Author experienced personally and the information that he was sharing from his lessons learned on his first adventure of launching a kayak from the beach into and trough to surf to the open ocean.
I also listened to the audio book and found it to be an easy listen with a good voice over and dialect. The reader had an easy to listen to tone and was articulated and did a good job of annunciation and showing some emotion in the reading of the book as well.
I would recommend this book to anyone who kayak fishes, but more importantly to anyone that is thinking of going beyond the breakers for the first time so that they can have a good idea of what the future may hold in store.
I would also recommend this to anyone who just wants to know one of the many adventures and activities that can be obtained in a little plastic boat.
